Mandy…

My radio-friend, Mandy, picked me up last Saturday upon arrival at the KLIA from Penang and she took me to SS2 for lunch. Another radio-friend, Cash, the friendly cabbie, joined us there later.

I ordered the beef noodles…

…which were ok but not that great. Even the ones we have in Sibu are better, not to mention those heavenly ones in KK. We also had the Penang po piah (spring roll)…

…and the Penang char kway teow

…and the Penang lor bak

In my opinion, all of them were just so-so…but then again, I had just come back from Penang where I had been feasting on all the authentic stuff. On my last trip (in May), peteformation took me to another place in Paramount that specialised in Penang hawker fare and I quite liked what I had there…but I had not been to Penang yet at the time. I did not meet Pete this time around as when he heard I was coming, he left town! ROTFLMAO!!!

Anyway, getting back to our lunch, Cash ordered this char siew fan

…and this plate of wantan noodles…

…and I did not hear him singing their praises either.

We sat and chatted till quite late and then Mandy sent me to the hotel where I was staying to check in. Actually, we had planned to make a day trip to Ipoh the following day – Sunday, but I had second thoughts later as I thought it might be too hectic for an old man like me. At almost 60, I should slow down a bit and take it nice and easy, don’t you think? LOL!!!

Well, thank you once again, Mandy, from the very bottom of my heart for everything…and especially for helping me pick Melissa at Sungai Petani and bringing her over to Penang. I hope you will make a trip to Sibu sometime…and I’ll  try to make it up to you somehow. In the meantime, all the best and take care,…and you too, Cash!

  1. I’m still stuck at the office…

Hey, I like popiah! Healthy food.

Gosh! That’s fast!…It’s 4 plus…time to hit the Ramadhan stalls!!! They say they’ve got lots at Bandong!!!

  2. hmm radish in beef noodles?

Taiwan-style, I think. They also have that at Rasa Sayang’s here…and the yummy beef noodles I had in KK!

  3. After all the good Penang and KL food, what was the first local kopitiam fare you had after you came back? Let me guess….kampua? Heh…

I went for a bowl of piansip…before I had my tooth extracted on Thursday, and I haven’t been eating much since! Going to be very slim soon! LOL!!!

  4. Ya hor, that’s a good idea! I haven’t bought any food from the stalls to buka puasa with this year.

Still waiting for the wifey to come back from shopping…

Wah! The boss’ wife…so loaded! Shop! Shop! Shop! Hahahahahaha!!!!

  6. Radio fren, stp? meaning she works with the RTM or those radio channels we listen daily? Just curious….. and sometimes get “bashed” for asking too much.. and being blur blur many times too.. forgive me …

No, we used to be regulars on a radio show on TraxxFm. Every afternoon, we would be there sending smses…asking for our fave songs, communicating with one another, joking and having so much fun…and we became so close like one big happy family. We had a “family reunion” on May 16th – that was why I went to KL that weekend. I had a post on that:

Thanks for the invitation, sure i will let u know when i plan to visit Sibu… 🙂

Ya…wonder when that will be! Looking forward to having you (and bf?) in Sibu… See my reply to claire’s comment in previous post! Very cheap! Come! Come!

  8. Wow…it’s good that your friend Mandy and you got to feast together! Feel so full right now. Don’t wanna eat of these. LOL 😀 Maybe the char siu fan can lor. Ha 🙂

    Have a great Sunday STP!

What have you been feasting on? No new post? You have a great Sunday too!

  9. Don’t like popiah from West Malaysia. Prefer the ones in Kuching – Handsome Court’s Wednesday popiah and Choon Hui’s popiah. They are long and thick! Hahahahaha!!! 😛

It’s what’s inside…not so much the length or the size! Ya…I prefer the ones in Kuching too…or my own homemade ones! Must get down to making some one of these days – maybe over Raya when my daughter’s home!

  10. penang food? very nice..
    especially the chendol.. haha.. =D

Ya…it’s definitely nice. We were staying along Penang Road…but it was raining a lot, so this time around, we did not have the chance to walk up the road for the famous cendol…

  11. Tua Pui lai…..cepat-cepat lari to Butterworth…he he he! No lar, unfortunately that is the only long weekend that my wifey can take leave and the school holiday is on. LOL!

    Hahahahaha!!! It’s ok, there’ll be other times…hopefully.
