Cinderella…

Thanks to everybody for your Father’s Day greetings. You may have heard this song on the radio even though comparatively, it does not get very much airplay – Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. You can click on this link to listen to it if you have not had the opportunity before.

It was my daughter who first drew my attention to it; she said that she would hear it quite a lot on one of those radio stations that we cannot receive in our little Sibu town…so I texted TraxxFm and requested for it. I liked it a lot and I was particularly touched by the lyrics. It certainly got me thinking…that as parents, we would carry out our responsibility in bringing up our kids the best we could, showering them with all our love but perhaps someday, we would need to let go…..

She spins and she sways
to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I’m sittin’ here
wearin’ the weight of the world
on my shoulders.
It’s been a long day
and there’s still work to do,
She’s pulling at me
saying, “Dad. I need you!
There’s a ball at the castle
and I’ve been invited
and I need to practise my dancing.
Oh please, daddy, please!”

My Cinderella

She says he’s a nice guy
and I’d be impressed
She wants to know
if I approve of the dress
She says “Dad, the prom
is just one week away,
And I need to practise my dancing.
Oh please, daddy, please!”

Well, she came home today
with a ring on her hand
just glowing and telling us
all they had planned
She says, “Dad,
the wedding’s still six months away
but I need to practise my dancing.
Oh please, daddy please!”

So I will dance with Cinderella
while she is here in my arms
’cause I know something
the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don’t wanna miss even one song
’cause all too soon
the clock will strike midnight
and she’ll be gone

Your daughter DUNPED you already?…However way you justify to yourself of ..” letting go ” the honest truth is that you are being DUMPED. ha ha ha …just accept that and go on la..the important thing is to be able to sincerely tell them… I WAS THERE WHEN YOU NEEDED ME… nothing else will seem to matter.. ??I THINK??? personally Don”t think much of that song….and for those like me who knows what you look like..thank God you keep your pixs away ha ha ha… Remember that ..All Out Of Love.song joke.ear hurts cos lyingon the phone etc.. these oldies are in town trying to make some money..some of my friends are actually going.. you have o good F Day weekend

Twisting and turning the facts again, law-eya??? It’s just a matter of whether you see it as a glass half-full or half-empty. U don;t like the song?…Hmmmm…no paternal feelings, that’s why! And you don’t have a daughter!! Perhaps the song for you is Cat’s in the cradle?…..Air Supply! Yucks! But at least better than Michael learns to rock!!! LOL!!! But if you offer to buy the ticket and pay the airfare, I’ll definitely want to go!!! Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  6. Never heard the song, but am getting it as I type this.
    Happy father’s day.

Ps. I like Jason Mraz, songs are nice.

Initially, I felt “Butterfly kisses” was nicer but as I kept on listening, I began to like this one more and more… Yup, Jason’s new one is quite nice.

  7. Always hear this song on litefm and sometimes at mixfm too 🙂 Nice song indeed..

Resemblance? The eyes la maybe .. but that comparing to your baby photo 😛

Happy Father’s Day to you again and all the Fathers out there who’s reading this….

Yes, such a nice song…beautiful lyrics, so meaningful. I read somewhere about something sad that happened in the Chapman family but I did not google for more info. Zewt just told me via msn!!! So tragic!!!…..Thanks again for ur greeting!

  8. Sigh!!!! Why do they grow so fast?????? Guess you know why I’m saying that. She is going next month.

In the words of that kpenyu, you are being DUMPED!! ROTFLMAO!!!

  9. Let’s not unman each other–part at once; All farewells should be sudden, when forever, Else they make an eternity of moments, And clog the last sad sands of life with tears – Mark Twain

‘Someone’ told me that life’s sweetest and most bitter moment is the parting of ways. Sooner or later, the little birds will flap their wings and leave the nest, one of nature’s inevitable law. But remember, we only part to meet again. Absence makes us appreciate the beauty and significance of each other in our lives.

Gee! That’s heavy stuff! So intellectual!…..

  10. Must remember to let go of our children when the time is ripe. Don’t forget to cut loose the umbilical cord. Very important is to keep busy like STP with his blogging. I like the lyrics of the song but not the melody. Somehow it’s not memorable. Something like ‘One moment in time’, ‘Just the way you are’. Those songs really unforgettable!

Like I said, I didn’t really like it that much when I first heard it but after a couple of times, I thought it was quite nice!…..As for cutting loose and letting go, I would think that if parents have brought up and cared for their children with love, the bond will always remain, no matter how long or how far.

  11. Oh…I requested for this song that day! Did you hear? I liked it the first time I heard it on traxx (forgot when) though only now know the lyrics. Hehe…
I love the new Jason Mraz song “I’m Yours”…feel like dancing and bobbing my head to the sound of the guitar everytime I hear it. LOL. Reminds me of Adam Sandler in 50 First Dates with his ukelele…hehe

Yup! I heard that. And also when u asked for Jason’s song…or was it Melbie?

  12. ahh… this song, first heard it on litefm and its very touching.. apparently one of his (steve curtis) adopted daughter for which he wrote this song for died in an accident just recently..just a little girl nia… so sad….

Yup. Zewt mentioned that to me earlier; was knocked down accidentally by the brother, it seems. But the song doesn’t seem to be about her – this one grew up and got engaged and what not…

  13. time to get a lil mellow now hor stp .. muaks! happy papa’s day to u .. ha ha ha

Me mellow?…Naw, still the life and soul of the party!!!…Thanks! And don’t u hiao with me now!!! Hahahahahaha!!!!

  14. STP, I cant help you on the photo thingy…guess Archie is…lol! Anyway, Happy Father’s Day to you again…

    Meaningful lyrics…hukhukhuk! Just don’t let GO… 😉

Hahahahahaha!!! He must be!!! Thanks again!…Hmm…have to let go when the time comes, no choice!

  15. Hey, I did requested for the song “I’m Yours” too la mar.. and who told you the title? hahahhaha …

Let the children fly from the nest to gain experience in life, to be wiser, but always with love.. then they’ll just fly back home in the “evening”… like me!! Yay, I’m home! So good to be home.. sleeping in my own bed.. hehehe

Yeah…my daughter always misses sleeping in her own bed!!! And always longs to come home!
