The boss…

The first time I dropped by here, which happened to be the last as well, was around January 2021 when it first opened its doors here. Well, I went there again the other morning for the mee pok kampua with real char siew (RM5.00)…

…and I noticed a little bit of difference in the place now…

It used to be fully-air-conditioned, completely enclosed but now, the front part is open and one can choose to sit at the tables along the pavement or in the comfort of the air-conditioned section inside.

I tried their kampua mee that first time I was there and it was quite nice and at that time, it was only RM4.00 a bowl. Now, after so many years, it came as no surprise at all that the price had shot up to RM5.00. Well, at least, they gave real char siew with the mee pok

…and quite a lot of it too, not boiled pork, coloured red to make it look like char siew when it actually isn’t. For one thing, I would give them due credit for the fact that it was more than just one of those messy, hot and stuffy coffee shops and they even had a nice menu…

…in English and Mandarin. I asked for B (flat) 01 (ori) and X (small with meat) and for that, I had to pay RM5.00 in total.

If you choose to sit outside like me, you can watch the master hard at work…

…behind the counter.

My order came soon enough and I would say it was pretty good, like the first time I had a bowl here. I wouldn’t mind it cooked a bit longer till a bit softer though and it would be nicer with a bit more fragrant shallot oil/lard so it would not be so much on the dry side.
