I was an English language teacher before in the upper secondary classes so of course, I had a lot of marking to do, day in and day out, all the long essays written by the students and that prompted my missus to complain that she had a lot of friends who were teachers and they were all so free – none of them was busy all the time, like me!
Fast forward to this present day and age, my girl is also an English language teacher like me and despite being in a primary school (so there would not be all those long essays to correct), it sure looks like she is A LOT busier than I was back in my day. When she is not in school, she is at her worktable every waking moment doing her schoolwork, even on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays. There certainly is a whole lot more things to do nowadays.
That is why we always go out to eat on Saturdays or Sundays, just to give her a short break from the chore and yes, I would take her to enjoy something comforting that she enjoys a lot and last Sunday afternoon, we went to this Indian/Indonesian restaurant in town that we frequent a lot, for the nasi briyani with the Indian butter chicken curry (RM21.00)…

…that she likes a lot.
I decided to try their tandoori chicken paratha (RM15.00)…

I don’t recall having had that before and yes, it…

…was very nice with the lovely potato curry…

…that came with it. There was some kind of brown sauce or gravy in another bowl that tasted great too.
My missus stuck steadfastly to her favourite Indonesian ayam penyet…

…with the urap (Indonesian kerabu, the blanched vegetables with spicy grated coconut)…

…that she enjoys a lot. Personally, I prefer the grilled brinjal with the delightful peanut sauce…

– I sure would not mind getting more of that if I were to order that dish.
The total came up to RM58.00, inclusive of drinks and I’m glad to note that there were quite a number of customers around when we dropped by which, of course, is a good thing and a clear sign that the locals have acquired the taste for the exotic Indian & Indonesian cuisines available here and keep coming back for more.
