Where to go?

Last Friday, my missus and I went out all morning as there was something we had to do while our girl was in school – she had something on in school and food was provided. Once done, we decided to go for an early lunch ourselves so we would not have to rush home to cook. Of course, it was not easy to decide on a place especially when we insisted on not eating any meat on a Friday.

I had the sweet and sour fish rice here…

…back in July and I enjoyed it a lot. We had not gone back there since so I felt like having a go at it again and in the end, that was what I had that day. It had gone up in price though but the increase was quite minimal, just by RM1.00. It was RM10.90 then and now, it had gone up to RM11.90.

I would say it was a complete meal by itself – they were very generous with the fish fillet…

…that was really nice with the pleasantly light sweet and sour sauce and there was a bit of salad by the side. The rice looked rather plain, some simple egg fried rice probably…

…but it was delicious! My guess is they used their chicken rice to cook that and it came out really very nice!

My missus had their sambal fried kway teow (RM6.50)…

…and as always, the fried noodle dishes here could easily rank among the best in town despite the fact that there wouldn’t be a lot of ingredients in the plate. Most likely, you would get to see their standard three prawns, always three…never two, never four but somehow, they would be able to do such a good job and dish out something really nice without fail everytime – we have been coming back here for this very often since the guy ventured out on his own and opened this coffee shop in 2015.

I loved the guy’s spicy crispy chili prawn sambal – it went so well with rice…or believe it or not, crackers! I would often eat it with the Osborne biscuits that we always have in the house. It must be doing well as to this very day, he is still making and selling it. No, he has progressed beyond those recyclable plastic tubs – unlike before, now they come in these plastic bottles, properly labelled and all…

I grabbed one bottle to take home to enjoy but no, it isn’t all that cheap, RM17.00 each! Well, we all know that these days, those dried prawns/shrimps can burn a hole in our pocket so I shall have to apply it sparingly and stretch the enjoyment for as long as I can.
