Well, the school holidays have started and of course, we do not have any plans to go anywhere. #staysafe #staywell #stayhome
I asked my girl if she planned to cook or bake anything to pass the time but she said she had yet to think about it. Well, that afternoon, when I came downstairs after my nap, I could smell something very nice coming from the kitchen. She was cooking some mashed bananas…

…in the pan. According to her, she was making some banana cheese puffs.
We can buy grilled/fried bananas with a sprinkling of grated cheese on top from some Malay stalls in the kampung and I even tried to cook my own at home once…

However, she was going to do it a little differently – she was not cooking the bananas whole and she would wrap everything in puff pastry…

…before putting them in the oven to bake. I bought this packet of puff pastry sometime ago – I did not have any plans at all so all this while, it had been sitting in the freezer. I sure was glad that my girl wanted to use it as that would get it out of the way…finally!
She cut each piece into two…

…and put a bit of the bananas…

…on top of one piece. Then, she grated some cheddar cheese over the bananas…

After having done that…

…she placed the other half of the pastry on top and pressed down the edges using a fork…

Lastly, she poked the top of the puff with the fork to make the air holes…

…so the steam could escape in the process of baking.
After brushing them with egg…

…she placed the tray in the oven to bake.
They were ready…

…in no time at all and of course, I wasted no time in sitting down and grabbing one to try, still piping hot from the oven.
Of course, the pastry was great – we have always been pleased with what we have managed to come out with using it and yes, the banana and cheese filling was absolutely out of this world.
It was very sweet though but I guess that was the sweetness of the bananas – no refined/processed cane sugar was added in the making. I was thinking that this would be great for serving as a dessert after a sit-down dinner with a scoop by ice cream by the side, perhaps.
