It is what it is…

A few days before the Chinese New Year, my missus went shopping and came home, not with one but THREE of this…

I guess that 8+8 thing is supposed to bring double good fortune and prosperity but RM11.00 for that? Good grief!!!

Inside, you will find two packs of Kit Kats…

…with 8 minis…

…in each of them.

Personally, I do not think those plastic containers…

…are a sight to behold and what’s worse, you can’t use them to store food…

As we all know, plastic should not be used for that purpose especially when the food is hot. That, of course, means that using it as a bento or lunch box is totally out of the question. I reckon that if one has school-going kids, they can use these as a pencil box/case instead.

I remember back in the late 70’s, there was this company, Kandos, that came out with what they called Crispy – chocolate bars with rice bubbles wrapped inside and boy, it sure was love at first bite. I think I bought 10 and took them with me into the cinema to watch a movie…and I ate all of them at one go! Well, chocolate is “heaty” and I came down with a fever right after that, lesson learnt!

In this case, the ones inside the pack…

…are rather small so I was thinking that it wouldn’t be so bad for my low-sugar diet if I just had ONE or rather two conjoined ones and that was what I did!

No, I did not think it was nice, nothing more than just a wafer inside plus it was so very sweet!!! Forgive me for I have sinned – I shall not do it again and that’s a promise! LOL!!!

I tried the ice cream, this one

…and this one too

…sometime ago and no, they did not really sweep me off my feet.

I do recall that I did enjoy their Japanese green tea Kit Kat…

…that a friend gave to me once but I do not remember whether it was all that sweet too or not. Anyway, at my age, I reckon there are things that I can live without…for my own good.

  1. Who doesn’t love chocolates and ice creams? As much as I love those KitKat chocolates/ice-cream, I try to control myself from consuming too much. At our age, a lot of do’s and don’ts we have to follow for our own sake. Haizzzz… Can’t enjoy this and that.. I guess your missus got attracted by the containers and that is why she got 3. One for each of you.. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. At that price, I may get one only.

Not me, I think they look quite horrible and especially at that price! I would just walk away!
Yes, so sad that we cannot eat a lot of things now, need to have a lot of self control. I’ve given up on all chocolates, ice cream…and cakes and cookies that are too sweet too.

  2. I remember Kandos but I did not like their chocolate. As for KitKat, I used to enjoy it but I may have lost the taste for them. Maybe my late grandfather was right, our tastebuds do change as we age. LOL!

I only remember Kandos rice crispy, dunno the rest or any of the other brands of chocolates, local or those overseas.
A lot of people love Whitaker from New Zealand – I’m just o.k. with theirs.
I’m not sure if my taste buds have changed…but there were things I would not eat but I love them now, bitter gourd, for one. LOL!!!

  3. Yup, I used to like kit kat, kandos and all the chocolates and ice creams. But these days, I can easily do without them especially those that are sweet. Actually, I prefer chocolates with nuts.

I’m the opposite. I don’t like chocolate with nuts, same thing with ice cream or cakes too, the ones with crushed peanut.

  4. Oh I see, since you can’t put hot food inside.
I guess your wife was hinting you to put money inside loh.
She then can keep safe properly for you.

We can find green tea Kit Kat here too, but only from Japanese grocery stores.
    And they’re extremely expensive.
My favourite from regular UK store is peanut butter Kit Kat.
But only get it once in a blue moon.

    1. I’ve heard of peanut butter Kit Kat, maybe we have it here but I never bought to try, not really into these things.
Yes, with the low interest rates these days, it may be a better idea to just keep your money under the bed at home…like in the good ol’ days in old Milo tins!

  5. Kit Kat always have those nice but not always practical storage. Haha. Remember my hubby bought a Kit Kat in a double decker bus container. Now used as storing those packets of sauces and tea bags. Lol. Saw this Kit Kat promo in other blogs and social media but I didn’t go for it. Not so crazy about it. Now the kids prefer other brands. Kinder chocolate. Their grandma bought few packs for them just before CNY. Not that sweet.

Kinder? Don’t think I’ve heard of it but then again, I don’t think I was looking either…

  6. It is a good deal so why not right? πŸ˜€

I dunno, never buy these things so I can’t compare prices. I guess 8+8 is supposed to bring good luck in the New Year. LOL!!!

  7. I had to laugh when I saw the Kit Kat containers. Yes, I’m unimpressed with them also, but they do look like the kit kat bar, so that’s something. I guess? πŸ™‚

Yes, I think that was their intention but they look awful! LOL!!!

  8. Oh, I didn’t know they had Kit Kat flavoured ice creams.

Yes, but not really into those. I prefer Walls’ Magnum but not for me these days, I’m on a low sugar diet now.
