I know this brand – it is a popular brand when it comes to frozen popiah (spring roll) skin. If I remember correctly, I’ve used it before.
Well, sometime ago, I saw a pack of this…

…in the freezer, open already but unfinished – there was just one piece left. It was there for quite a while so one day, I decided to cook it and eat it up and be done with it.
It turned out to be really very nice and if you look closely at the pack…

…you will see that it has rye, millet, quinoa, barley, sesame, wheat, brown flax, triticale and spelt, whatever those last three may be. I went and googled and found that triticale is a hybrid cereal produced by crossing wheat and rye, grown as a fodder crop while spelt is a species of wheat and brown flax or linseed is a kind of grain. That sure sounds healthy, don’t you think?
Well, my girl bought that unfinished pack in the freezer and yes, she did enjoy it too – it wasn’t because she did not like it that the last piece was left in the cold for so long.
Just before Chinese New Year, I saw that they had new arrivals at the shop beside my favourite fish & seafood stall not far from my house. Knowing that we would have all kinds of curries during the festival, I grabbed a pack of this and another one, their plain paratha for days when we might get bored of eating rice. They also had that Jay Chou roti canai but no, I did not bother to buy that.
I liked how they had two sheets of paper for each piece of the paratha…

– most would just have one to separate one piece from another.
I just oiled our non-stick pan with butter and fried till it looked pretty well done…

I liked how it seemed to swell in the heat – that probably has got something to do with the air inside.
It was a Friday that morning when I took it out to eat so I could not have it with all the curries from our reunion dinner that day. That was why I opened a can of my favourite tuna curry…

…to eat it with.
It was kind of crispy and crusty and yes, it tasted great, not bland like roti canai – I sure would not mind buying it when I see it again next time. Unfortunately, I did not check the prices in the cashier’s receipt from her cash register so I’m afraid I do not know how much it is a pack. I certainly will take note of it next time.
