Good 4 u…

I went back to the bakery to grab another loaf of the Low GI bread and this time around, I saw this one with cranberries and walnuts…

…and of course, I wanted that!

I’ve known about the health benefits of cranberries for a long time now and everytime I saw packets of the dried ones being sold at the supermarket, I certainly would grab one to enjoy…like eating raisins. You can read all about those benefits here and according to this website, they actually lower blood sugar but do take note of the warnings in the article regarding canned cranberries and also cranberry juice.

Owing to the sweetness of the cranberries plus the walnuts, it is nice to eat it on its own like how folks around here love those butter scotch bread from Gardenia.

However, I decided to have it differently the next morning for my big western breakfast…

I toasted a slice of the bread…

…and applied butter to it generously and served it with a slice of cheese plus a fried egg on top. In addition to that, I fried two slices of bacon till nice and crispy and one sausage and I pan-grilled a tomato cut into halves…

…to go with the aforementioned. I prefer tomato raw, not a fan of it cooked but I love it grilled this way.

I sure enjoyed the breakfast, a bit too heavy for me these days as I no longer eat that much, not as indulgent as before – I guess once in a long while is fine. As for the bread, it was good but at RM10.20 for a slightly smaller loaf, I think I would just stick to the regular ones with all the seeds, sesame, pumpkin and what have you as those are nice too and are much cheaper, only RM6.30 a loaf.

  1. A very fulfilling breakfast. I love tomatoes too, be it eaten raw or cooked. Some people can have heavy breakfast like having kolo mee but not me. I cannot take heavy breakfast and will have discomfort in my tummy if I do so. I wonder why.

    1. Some people do not eat much when they get up in the morning, no appetite but it is the most important meal of the day – must have a good breakfast and a light lunch so you will not feel sleepy from all that food all afternoon.

I do not have a problem, can eat anytime. When we were little, my dad would go out to see a movie sometimes, 2nd show at 9.15 p.m. coming home at around midnight and he would tapao Foochow fried mee for us so they would wake us up in the middle of the night to eat – no problem! LOL!!!

  2. Ooohhh…I love your breakfast! Any bread with cranberry and walnuts, I super like. I just had bacon and eggs too with three (oops!) slices of bread.

  3. You are right! These bread are too expensive to eat for the long term. Not that much more tasty also. Just eat normal wholemeal bread will do.

    1. Everything in moderation…and the thing is we are not really into bread, will only buy sometimes. More into noodles…and THAT is bad! Catch 22, heads you win, tails I lose situation! LOL!!!

  4. Must be full from the nice breakfast. Used to buy GI low bread, when I stayed in BDC. Since moved here, never. Haha. Because the bakery was in BDC, unreasonable to travel so far just to buy the bread.

    1. I’m ok with it now, not when I had it in Oz for the first time after all my years of eating soft plain white bread. Food for horses, that was what went through my mind.LOL!!!
