In no time at all…

My sister bought this…

Nestle coconut gula melaka

…for our Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner but my girl’s good friend gave her these lovely cakes…

Cakes frrom friend

…so we decided to have those. Besides, the mum also made this peach & longan combo…

…for dessert.

In the end, she decided to keep it till Chap Goh Meh. In the meantime, she brought a little bit…

Try a bit

…for us to try. Wowww!!! It was so good that I quickly shared the link to their ad on Youtube and sang praises of it on Facebook.

It is nicer than the gula apong ice cream…

Gula apong ice cream

…here that I love a lot because I prefer gula melaka to gula apong plus this one has the lemak-ness of coconut ice cream, not just plain vanilla!

I remember I had something like this at McD…

McD's cendol cone

…sometime ago – their cendol cone and I enjoyed that a lot too!

My friend saw my post on Facebook and asked where I got it so I asked my sister and she said she managed to grab hold of it at the supermarket in the basement of the mall near my house. He rushed there instantly but unfortunately, there was not a single one left. I asked my sister and she said that she was informed that the supplier sent 15 tubs to that particular supermarket and when she went over, there were only 3 left…and she took one. No wonder they were all gone in no time at all.

I don’t know if my friend managed to get hold of it in the end or not but yes, my sister brought it over for our Chap Goh Meh dinner and we had that for dessert – the rest is still in our freezer for us to enjoy slowly.

DELTA – THE MARKETPLACE (2.311968, 111.847043) is located in the basement of the Delta Mall, Taman Seduan 8, Jalan Dr Wong Soon Kai (formerly Jalan Pedada).

  1. I will be on the outlook for this ice cream with gula Melaka. Is it new? Once I had this ice cream with gula apong sold at Open Air over here and find that it is too sweet. It was very popular when it makes its first appearance and people are praising it to the skies but now I seldom heard of it. I doubt whether it still exist.

I tried the gula apong ice cream at Padungan, not nice at all. Never got to try the one at Open Air. The one here in Sibu is very nice – took my Kuching cousins to try, they loved it too…but between gula apong and gula melaka, I like gula melaka more plus this is coconut ice cream, not plain or gula apong-flavoured vanilla.

  2. My daughter and father would love this. They love ice cream. I’ll eat it now and again. Everything looks delicious.

Hope the weather’s not too cold anymore and a lot kinder now, should be Spring soon but I do notice people overseas enjoying ice cream in winter too! So cold!

  3. somehow those pics make me think of coffee or mocha ice cream 🙂 so how do they taste like? i’m familiar with coconut

…and palm sugar too, I’m sure since you’re originally from the Philippines. Well, if you like them both, you will love this ice cream. I do! Anytime nicer than coffee or mocha ice cream!!!

  4. Sure I will like this ice cream flavour, as coconut ice cream and gula melaka are both my favourites!

Go for it!!! I’m off sweet things at the moment so I have not had ice cream for a while now.
