Layers…

The other day, my girl said that she would like to cook lasagna for lunch so when the mum went out one afternoon to pick up a few things, she asked her to buy a box of the lasagna sheets…

San Remo lasagna sheets

…and a packet of frozen minced beef.

That morning, she got down to work on it and as always, she did not want me to lend her a hand. I saw her chopping a Bombay onion, dicing  some carrot and blending a few tomatoes. I did not stick around to see what else she did.

Eventually, she got the filling ready so she could line the casserole with the lasagna sheets, spread the filling on them, add another layer of the pasta followed by the filling and it went on till there were enough layers. After that, she covered it all up with a generous topping of mozzarella cheese and put it in the oven to bake.

We did ask my sister to come over to our house to join us for lunch since we were having something special…

Lasagna

…that day.

Yes, it…

Lasagna,sliced

…was very nice. I particularly liked her own-made filling using fresh tomatoes so it did not taste like the ones outside which is more or less bolognese sauce that tastes like tomato ketchup straight from the bottle. I am never a fan of that.

That was a delightful lunch and we certainly had a lot of catching up to do – with the current MCO lockdown right now, we sure do not get to see one another so much.

  1. The beef lasagna that Melissa made looks so delicious! I love to eat lasagnas more than eating rice. Good that you all invite your sister now that she stays alone. Stay safe! 🙏

You and your loved ones too, over there. We are getting over 100 every day but the population here is so small, possibly comparable to the 4 figures over at your side.

My girl loves pasta and is not really into rice too. Not going out in the current situation so we would just have to cook our own.

  2. You are truly blessed to have a daughter that loves to cook and bake. You can just sit back, relax and eat. The beef lasagna looks so good and just looking at the pix makes me drooling. Homemade is always the best.

Yes, so far I have not had really nice lasagna outside…with their bolognese sauce. Spaghetti, yes – at Payung. They make their beef bolognese sauce from scratch using fresh tomatoes and Italian herbs – not so red and so much nicer!

  3. I used that brand before. But long time did not make lasagna.

    Delicious treat. Yummy.

I guess this is the most popular brand here when it comes to pasta. Lasagna sheets are not that easily available though.

  4. Aww…it must be really good eating something that is made by your little one…i mean daughter. 😀

Well, eating anything without having to work half dead for it is nice. LOL!!!

  5. The beef lasagna looks so good with the melt in the mouth cheese.

Cheese that melts in the mouth? Hmmmm…well, it melted in the oven! LOL!!!
