Stop and go…

The other day, I blogged about the red yeast rice kampua from The Kitchen Food Instant Sibu Kampua people. That, of course, was red in colour and I did mention in passing their pumpkin noodles, yellow/orange in colour and it so happened that my missus brought home a pack of their spinach noodles…

…and it was green in colour.

Gee! That made me think of the traffic lights at the road junctions – red, you stop, orange or amber, you slow down and green, you go! LOL!!!

I had had green noodles before, one made with moringa leaves but it did not change the taste much – it tasted like kampua mee, more or less. The other one was kampua mee tossed with pandan and that gave it the green colour. This one tasted a little different from the regular kampua mee because of the pandan fragrance but no, it did not get me all excited and no, I never went back for more.

Anyway, back to this green spinach noodles, just like all the rest, you will find two sachets in a packet of the noodles – one with the shallot oil and one with the lard seasoning…

Sachets included

You empty the contents of the sachets onto a plate, boil the noodles for 2 minutes, drain really well and toss with the seasonings and serve…

Spinach noodles, served

I had mine that morning with a bit of leftover soy sauce pork, garnished with a sprinkling of chopped spring onion from my garden.

As expected, the taste was no different from that of the regular kampua mee, the original flavour – I could not detect any taste of the spinach, if at all there was supposed to be any but of course, there are people who believe that spinach is good for health…and we love the spinach and egg pizza here and yes, I don’t think the taste of the vegetable is significantly noticeable in that either.
