Hideout…

I heard some nice things about this place here…

…but prior to that, I did not know of its existence nor had I ever seen it before. I decided to go and give it a try and went searching for it – it turned out that it was one of the shops in one of the blocks behind this food court, not facing the main road.

Despite the fact that it was quite hidden from view, there were quite a lot of people, all very young, there when we went that morning. I can’t say that I liked the decor, overwhelmed by all those horrendous fake flowers and there were two tables enclosed in what looked like bird cages. At best, I would say the place was all right with its nice soothing jazz music but perhaps, they could work on improving the ambiance and make it more pleasant and conducive for dining and hanging out.

I must say though that I was very impressed by their personalised cutlery…

…and on Saturdays and Sundays, they have a special brunch menu from 10.00 a.m. – that’s when they open for business daily – till 2.00 a.m. From 5.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m. and on all other days, they have their regular à la carte menu.

My missus had their Hideout savoury pancake (RM18.00)…

…served with bacon and maple syrup and whipped cream and fresh blueberries. It turned out to be those fluffy Japanese souffle pancakes (スフレパンケーキ), quite unlike the pancakes that we make ourselves and are more accustomed to and on the whole, she thought it was all right, not really anything to get excited about.

My girl liked her Eggs Benedict with guacamole salsa(RM19.00)…

…but I thought they could work on dishing out better looking poached eggs…

They were perfect, still runny but I would like to see a smoother, better rounded edge.

I did not think there was any tandoori chicken in my sandwich (RM18.00)…

…probably just some roasted chicken with a lovely creamy sauce, a bit spicy with something like a nice curry-like taste.

…was great and there was a sprinkling of what looked like chili powder on their fries.

Drinks would be on the house if you were to like their Facebook page and share it and for the month of February, it is carrot juice and all the teas. My girl had peppermint and the mum had chamomile while I just asked for a big glass of iced water.

Service was great, everyone was nice and friendly and conversant in English or at least, the young boy waiting at our table was. I certainly was taken by surprise when he addressed me as “Mr Wee” and when I asked him, he told me that his manager was an ex-student so of course, after I was done, I went to talk to him – he was in my English Language tuition class in 2009.

It was a nice enough brunch and we certainly would want to go back again sometime to check out their regular menu – they do have some very nice photos of what they serve on their Facebook page or on Instagram.
