Marathon…

I was here…

Marathon Cafe

…around the end of June so very early at the break of dawn and the people at the chu char (cook & fry) place at the back were not quite ready yet. That was why I ended having something from the kampua mee stall in front instead.

Well, I finally went back the other morning and that was around mid-morning. It seemed to me that they would open every day and they would indicate on the blackboard in front if they were going to take the day off…

Off day

They are popular for their prawn noodles – if I remember correctly, you have a choice between RM15.00 and RM20.00. I guess you will get bigger ones if you pay more.

I was not in the mood for those crustaceans so I asked for the fish noodles (RM10.00)…

Of course I asked first what fish they were using and they said baung, a freshwater river fish and I was fine with that. If it had been dory, I would not touch it with a 10-foot pole.

They were very generous with the fish…

…but unfortunately, they did not fillet the fish and just cut it into slices so one would have to be very careful with the bones and eat slowly and carefully.

The noodles tasted great and I sure would not mind coming back for that again…but no, I don’t think I will order the fish anymore, not with the bones.

MARATHON CAFE is located in the same block of shops as the A-PLUS FOOD CENTRE/RESTAURANT (2.293355, 111.823653), somewhere in the middle, along Jalan Kampung Datu at the back of the block of shops (where Fair Price Supermarket is) near the traffic lights at its junction with Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jalan Kampung Nyabor.
