Gosh!!! Time does seem to fly by so quickly these days and before I knew it, it was already a month since the last time I was here…
…and that was for my high school reunion bash on the 4th of April. We did not go back there all this time for no apparent reason – we just didn’t but last Sunday evening, the 5th of May, my missus and I stopped by for a light dinner.
It has been unbearably hot here lately and the cold and refreshing pomelo salad (RM8.00)…
…that we had was definitely a welcome relief.
We did not have prawns that night at our reunion so I ordered their belimbing prawns (RM17.00)…
…and Andy took it upon himself to cook while Peter, the boss, just sat and relaxed knowing that it would be in good hands. He sure did a really good job and we enjoyed that very much. Of course, as always, we got their special, three servings for the price of one. LOL!!!
We did have their green chicken curry (RM16.00)…
…in the very scrumptious buffet spread that night but my missus wanted that again so we had that too.
I also had their durian belanda/soursop (RM7.00) but I did not take a snapshot of the drink. I must say that it was really good, so very concentrated that it would put all the watered-down ones I have had elsewhere to shame.
It sure was great to be back and as always, everything was great – the food, the people, the ambiance, everything.
PAYUNG CAFÉ (2.284049, 111.833014) is located at No.20F, Lanang Road, Sibu, Malaysia, back to back with the multi-storey car park of the Kingwood Hotel which faces the majestic Rejang River.
From the first pix, I know exactly the place. As always, food looks good and salad pamelo for me anytime. I can finish that all by myself.
Unmistakable. Never fails to please, everytime we eat here.
It is very hot lately. Phew. Sweating like crazy.
The pamelo salad is a welcoming sight on such warm day.
Yes, so very very hot but no, I’m not complaining…especially on days when I have to go on the Pain-Borneo Highway.
That’s a really good looking green curry.
I dare say it is a cut above the Thai restaurants in town, the ones here, that is and maybe some elsewhere too.
the weather in kl has been torture on the air-conditioner – i didn’t realise it was sweltering in sabah and sarawak too – climate change, gaaaah!
Very very hot but I am not complaining – anytime better than a heavy downpour whenever I have to go on the horrendous Pain-Borneo Highway.
The food at Payung is always good! It’s really really hot these days. I dread going outside to run errands.
Same here but count our blessings, no rain storm, no flooding! Pity those in the jungle though – no rain means no water. 😦
Cannot stand the heat recently. The pomelo salad, prawns and green curry are a good combination to go with rice.
If it is Payung, any combination is a good combination!
Even the heavy rain this morning cannot chase away the heat wave.
No rain here but I am not complaining. Very hard to drive to my girl’s school in the jungle and back if there is a heavy downpour, terrible road conditions and flash floods everywhere.
Green chicken curry is my pick.
You will love most if not all of the dishes here. I love it here! Very special!
