Some people talk about retail therapy and comfort buys to de-stress; we go for food therapy and comfort foods instead.
When we got back into town after picking up my girl from her school in the jungle, I took her here, our second time around, as I knew, for sure, that would put a smile back on her face after a dreary week in the middle of nowhere.
We had some of the sushi that we liked on our previous visit and tried some new ones like these with raw salmon that the ladies liked…
…but I prefer this prawn one…
…and this one…
…but of course, it was more expensive as there was only one…
…in a red plate (RM2.80).
They also had this one with scallops…
…and a plate of takoyaki…
…but I did not try them as I had ordered some à la carte dishes for myself from their menu.
The ebi tama don (RM11.80)…
…with the prawn fritters and the omelette and onion underneath…
…was at best, just all right. I thought it was rather mild but I guess that is quite typical of Japanese cuisine.
The complimentary miso soup…
…was very nice though, very flavourful and nicer than all that I had had elsewhere.
I also ordered their sanma shioyaki (RM9.80)…
…to share and yes, whatever fish that was, we loved it except that it looked a whole lot bigger in the menu. When it was served, its long and slender appearance made me think of a Malay movie I saw with my mum when I was a kid.
My girl’s housemate hitched a ride with us that day – she would come downtown for the weekend sometimes, also to de-stress for a bit and of course, I invited her to join us. She also had some of the sushi and she ordered this for herself, their tori katsu curry rice (RM13.80)…
I did not try that, of course – the chicken looked nice but I think I had seen better-looking Japanese curry before.
My girl stuck faithfully to her favourite, the unagi and had their unagi don (RM20.40)…
…and of course, she enjoyed it very much. This old man is so old school – when it was served, I thought those were pineapples by the side! *face palm* LOL!!!
The total came up to RM99.90 and with the 10% service charge, RM109.90 and of course, I gave the cashier RM110.00 and told her to keep the change. I am not so miserably miserly like some of those people at the eateries who would wait for you to dig out 10 sen from your pocket to pay them…and since we enjoyed the meal, the service was fast and efficient and seeing how it did help to put a smile on the girls’ faces, I dropped a couple of ringgit into their tip box on the counter.
