Don’t keep me waiting…

I was in the vicinity of the junction of this lane…

Jalan Chong Sang

…and Lanang Road, not far from this leading hotel in town…

Kingwood Hotel Sibu

…waiting for something to be done.

In the meantime, I walked around the area and decided to drop by here…

King Sing Canteen

…for breakfast…

King Sing Canteen, inside

The coffee was good (RM1.70)…

Kopi-o-peng kao

…pretty much the same as many around town and so was the kampua mee (RM2.80)…

Kampua mee

I ordered a small bowl of the pian sip (meat dumplings) soup (RM2.00)…

Pian sip soup

…to go with it but this is not one of those places where they would take the skin one by one and roll it till very thin so once cooked, the pian sip skin would be very smooth and translucent, really nice. Thankfully, it wasn’t chewy and rubbery…

Pian sip

…like one that I had had the displeasure of having once but I did think it could do with a little less msg.

Well, should I happen to be around those parts again and feel like having a bite to eat, I sure would not mind going back for the noodles but not the dumplings.

KING SING CANTEEN (2.282610, 111.834586) is located at the junction of Jalan Chong Sang and Jalan Lanang, in the first block of shops to the left of the Proton Service Centre.

  1. Both looks quite good to me though the pian sip skin is not as smooth and translucent as it should be.

That was what I did not enjoy about it plus it could do with a little less msg.

  2. Less MSG is good but I honestly think most eateries in Sibu are overloaded with them. Hehe. My personal observation. Especially their kampua and dumpling soup.

I think I know this place. Pass by when need to go to the roundabout and to that coffee shop that my sil brought us not long ago.

Yes, the Chinese restaurants. Thankfully, those that I frequent know already so they will cut down on it without my telling them to do so. I hate going for dinners and going home with that lingering taste in the mouth, just can’t get rid of it no matter how much water I drink.

Yes, I know that place you all went to – been wanting to go but haven’t got down to it yet. It is often very crowded and that puts me off.

  3. I have the urge to eat noodles now 😉

Come on over for our Sibu own kampua noodles and everything else! You’ll love it, I’m sure and I bet you’ll be amazed by how cheap things are around here.
