Last minute…

Initially, we had planned to cook a few dishes and bring them over to my mum’s place so we could have a simple Chap Goh Meh (15th Night) dinner together – I knew that would have pleased her immensely. She was always happy when all of us gathered to partake in a meal together especially back in the good ol’ days when she was fit and able and could cook all our favourite dishes to savour and enjoy.

Unfortunately, that was not meant to be and we had to change our plans at the very last minute because when we went over to spend some time with her that morning, she was not doing too well and eventually, we had to admit her into a medical centre here and we were there all day and did not have any time to cook anything at all.

When evening came, we wanted to go some place for dinner but most of the Chinese places were closed or packed to the brim. It certainly looked like these days, most people did not bother to cook and opted to just eat out – for one thing, it was a Friday, a working day.

In the end, we dropped by here (again) and this time around, I went for something on the Indian menu, the chicken masala with biryani rice (RM18.00)…

…and yes, it was very nice and I did enjoy that…

…very much.

Of course, my girl wanted the biryani rice as always but instead of her usual lamb curry from the Indian menu, this time she decided to go for the butter chicken curry (RM20.00)…

…instead. It did take a while longer to prepare though – the North Indian chef had to cook the tandoori chicken first and then use it to cook the butter chicken curry and yes, my girl loved it a lot – so much nicer than what she used to have at an Indian restaurant in Wellington, New Zealand which, she said, was kind of sweet, quite unlike the one here.

The mum stuck steadfastly to the Indonesian menu but at least, she decided to pick something different for a change this time around and had their ayam bakar berempah set (RM14.50)…

…and she was overwhelmed by how very nice the chicken was though personally, I did feel they could have done a better job with the egg.

We also ordered one kalio ayam curry set (RM14.50) for my sister who had to hold the fort at the medical centre and could not go out to eat with us that evening.
