When we were having dinner here with my cousin and her hubby from the UK that night, I met the proprietress of this place – it turned out that she is the wife of my ex-colleague in that same school that I was attached to right before I retired and it so happened that they were having dinner there too.
She said that she read what I said in my blogpost and had taken note of everything. I remember I enjoyed the nasi lemak that I had but my missus wasn’t too happy with her ayam penyet as it was way too salty. Well, the lady said that they had made sure that it would not be so from then on and as for my comment on the covered food warmers…
…for the nasi campur spread, she is now using these transparent covers…
…so one would be able to see what is inside without having to lift the lids.
When we dropped by the other day, my missus and I decided to try their nasi campur and as always, she just had one meat and two vegetables, the fish…
…salted vegetables…
…and the daun ubi/bandong (tapioca leaves) that I also had (extreme left)…
…but as always, I got carried away and I took the daging masak hitam (black-cooked beef) and the nice chicken rendang that I had with my nasi lemak on our last visit here and of course, I simply couldn’t resist the chicken liver…
– three meat and one vegetable altogether…
I did not find out the breakdown of the prices of the items that we had helped ourselves to but the total for the two of us came up to RM16.90 which, of course, did not come as a surprise considering all the things I took. Most importantly, we enjoyed what we had picked and yes, we certainly would drop by again sometime if we are driving past this way – the location is not as convenient as some of the other places that we frequent, along the way between my mum’s house and ours.
Incidentally, they open every day, except Sundays, from early in the morning till around 4.00 p.m. and no, they do not open for business at night.
SARAH ISLAMIC CORNER, the first shop in the block opposite A-PLUS FOOD CENTRE/RESTAURANT (2.293355, 111.823653), is located among the shops along Jalan Kampung Datu, behind the block of shops (where Fair Price Supermarket is) near the traffic lights at its junction with Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jalan Kampung Nyabor.
STOP PRESS: I started this blog on this day 10 years ago in 2008 so today is its 10th Anniversary. Thank you to all for your unfailing support all this while – I am indeed most thankful for the many friendships I have made along the way and I sure look forward to more happy years ahead. Cheers!!!
