Table for one…

Last Saturday evening, after the sunset service at the cathedral in town, I dropped by Payung Café, thinking that they would have put up their Christmas decorations but unfortunately, they had been too busy to get down to it. Peter, the boss, had been commissioned to make one for the annual Christmas tree display at the town square like what we had last year and every year before this for a number of years now and he was still there that night getting the lights done for the tree…

Now, don’t you think that is absolutely stunning? Peter is always so creative and so good with his hands – that is evident in the uniquely beautiful decor at his café anytime and everytime.

Actually, I was also there with the intention of asking for their help with my rambutan tree…again. This time around, there were a few branches growing over the roof of my house and they were weighed down by the weight of the fruits, touching the roof. I was worried that the ants would come crawling on the branches and get into the house so I wanted to get them cut and thrown away, too bad that I had to sacrifice the fruits. I mentioned it to Andy but I said that if they were too busy, it would be all right – I would have to try and get it done myself…somehow.

To my delight, they showed up at my house the next morning and in no time at all, the job was done…

…and those people would not accept any payment whatsoever for their labour. Aren’t they just so wonderful? Thank you so much, everybody, thank you…thank you…thank you!

Well, since I was there, I decided to just have my dinner before heading home and with the ladies out of town at the time, I had it all alone at my table for one.

I ordered their coconut shake (RM9.00)…

…to try and yes, it was very nice, very strong on the rich taste of coconut and so very refreshing with the vanilla ice cream in it.

I had their very nice, different-from-the-rest mashed potatoes (RM8.00)…

that we just had the other day to go with the beef spaghetti (RM17.00)…

Of course, I enjoyed the dinner and having had my fill, I made my way home…alone.
