Watch out!…

My girl wanted the very nice smoked chicken rice here for lunch that day so we made our way to the place.

The mum had her favourite here, the ayam penyet rice (RM9.80)…

…but this time around, she was not all that thrilled by it. According to her, the sambal was way too salty. However, an ex-student of mine dropped by here the other day – she actually wanted to go here for the nasi kerabu but ended up at the wrong place and in the end, she ordered this and she said that the sambal was all right, not too salty. We probably caught them on a bad day that day.

I ordered their iced red bean (RM3.00)…

…that I enjoyed so much the last time I had it. It would have been so very good with the added santan (coconut milk) and extra gula Melaka (palm sugar) but sadly, the beans were not cooked till soft enough – they were still a little hard so that sort of spoiled all the enjoyment. The best ang tao peng, as we call it in Hokkien, would have the beans cooked till very soft but they must still be whole, not one mushy mess.

I decided to try their XXL fried chicken (RM11.90)…

…and I loved how it was breadcrumb-coated. I am not a fan of batter-coated chicken or fish or even prawns. It tasted great but the slab was way too big and halfway through, I was already feeling very full. I think if one is not a big eater, it would be best to share.

All’s well that ends well, they say but not in this case – I discovered that the thicker part at the end…

…was not cooked enough and streaks of blood were visible in the meat. Thank goodness I had had more than enough by then so I just stopped eating there and then.

I took a photograph of it and forwarded it to the people concerned. They responded soon enough, apologising for what had transpired and promised that they would talk to the person or persons concerned. Well, they’d better!!!

Thankfully, my girl’s smoked chicken rice, drumstick (RM5.40, with complimentary soup)…

…was all right and as always, very much to her liking and she was singing praises of the iced honey lemon (RM3.00) that she had with it.

I don’t know when we’ll go back there again – we do like some of the things on their menu here and should we do so, I certainly hope that everything has been looked into and taken care of. When one is in the food business, one must always watch out and make sure that everything is to everyone’s satisfaction for if things like all the aforementioned happen once too often, the customers may just decide not to come back ever again and go some place else instead.
