We dropped by here…
…last Saturday as it was Peter’s birthday, 16th September, which happened to be Malaysia Day as well, to wish him many happy returns of the day.
While I was loitering around the place, I spotted this very nice incense holder…
– I guess they would only light up those sticks at night, great for aromatherapy and maybe they will help keep away the mosquitoes too.
They have filled up the shelves now – if you may recall, there was a break-in not too long ago and all of Peter’s prized antique irons were carted away. Obviously it was someone who knew his stuff as he took all the genuine antiques, leaving behind one that is not an antique like the rest.
I also saw these leaves…
…in some of the pots around the place and asked them what they were and they told me that those would be one of the 10 herbs used in their lei cha (RM6.00 per set)…
…available only for lunch on Fridays. According to Peter, it is well-received and many would show up for it every week.
Anyway, since we were already there, we decided to just have our lunch there that day and needless to say, everyone seconded the motion.
My girl wanted their chicken chop (RM25.00)…
…with its very special yogurt and green peppers sauce…
…that she liked a lot. Normally, there would be two slices of garlic bread by the side but I told them to leave those out as she would not be able to eat them being non-gluten free.
She loves the Payung fish (RM15.00 with rice)…
…too but no, she can’t have that anymore as the ikan keli (catfish)…
…is cooked with lots of ginger (and chili) in soy sauce which contains wheat so it is not gluten free either. Seeing that she was having the chicken chop so we were not sharing our orders, I ordered that that day as I had not had it for a while now…and since the mum was not into ikan keli, I got to enjoy it all by myself. Hehehehehe!!!
My missus ordered their tom yam prawns (RM17.00 with rice)…
…and yes, since she was not sharing that with her daughter, she asked for it to be triple spicy…and of course, she enjoyed it to the max – she likes it hot! As always, we got extras…
– a lot more prawns than in their regular serving at no extra charge. Aren’t they nice?
We had our favourite pomelo salad (RM8.00)…
…and Peter served us this Payung rojak…
…on the house with a special ingredient that day – the leaves of the buah bawang or mawang, as they call it in Chinese in addition to the leaves of the buah kedondong (ambarella) and all the other raw ingredients that went into the very healthy dish and yes, we did enjoy it very much.
Thank you so much, Peter, for the treat. We hope you had an awesome day and here’s wishing you nothing but the very best in the year ahead. Cheers!!!
