We had to miss our regular Sunday services these last two months or so as we had to be at my parents’ house to help take care of my late dad and also my bed-ridden mum so there was not much time for anything else.
However, last Saturday, the evening before my father was admitted into the hospital here, my girl and I did go out for the sunset mass at St Mary’s and caught up in so many things round that time, we did not have time to cook so we would have packed meals most every day. After the service that night, we dropped by here…
…for a late dinner.
They have a sign up now…
It was placed at a strategic point by the road and it looked really good there but the municipal council people said that was not permitted and suggested putting it up high on the wall of the building which actually was more the wall of the hotel and not the restaurant and eventually, it ended up where it is now.
It rained heavily earlier that evening so the night was nice and cool and that was why we decided to sit outside, right beside the counter, instead of at the air-conditioned section inside. That was a bad move because of the blue LED lights all around and they gave all my photographs of the food a peculiar tint of blue.
Of course, we had my girl’s favourite, their pad Thai (RM16.90)…
…and she wanted their seafood tom yam (RM45.50)…
…to go with it. Both were good and my girl really enjoyed the tom yam which she said was different from most of the rest that would be rather mild and watered-down, not bursting with flavours like the one here.
There were a whole lot of prawns, sotong (squid) and fish in it…
…and mushrooms too.
Actually, my dear friend, Mary, had invited me over for dinner some nights earlier but because I was ill-disposed at that point in time, I had to turned it down. That night, she wasted no time at all in serving me this lime beef dish…
… that she wanted me to try on the house. I have seen it on the food channel on tv where they blanched the thinly-sliced beef with boiling hot water and that more or less would cook it and then they added lime and all the other ingredients. Yes, we loved it and really enjoyed it to the max.
That sure was a lot of food for just the two of us but perhaps we had not been eating all that well prior to this, we finished all that was served!!! And that wasn’t all! Always so kind and generous as ever, Mary insisted on us taking home a tray of kampung/free range chicken eggs. Honestly, I can never thank this lovely, most wonderful lady enough for everything!
