No, we did not go at night – in fact, it was on a rainy morning that day when we stopped by here…
…for brunch. This is in the same block as this other coffee shop in the middle that we went to once, the corner shop and at the cashier’s counter, I was drawn to the collectibles on display…
Now how many can you name?
I know Captain America, one of the Ninja Turtles, the Incredible Hulk, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, that’s all.
We pass by this place almost everyday – it is just a stone’s throw away from my parents’ house so if you are wondering what made us go and check it out that day, I heard that now, they have nasi Arab there and I wanted to try that. I think over the past two years, there was a stall during Ramadhan, the Muslim fasting month, selling that but I can’t remember ever buying it. This one, they told me, is run by a Pakistani guy…
…married to a local.
He only has two choices – his bryani Arab, chicken (RM8.00)…
…or beef (RM10.00)…
…and both my missus and I wanted the beef…
…and it came with a bit of curry…
…that the guy said was spicy. Well, we did not think it was spicy at all, not even a little bit but we thought it was very nice with its own taste that was different from the usual Malay or Indian curries.
A friend of mind who had been here before said that she thought the rice was nice but there was too little meat…
Personally, I would prefer the African guy’s Moroccan or pili pili grilled chicken rice but this one was all right too and I would not mind going for it sometimes for a change. My missus, however, likes this one more – I guess, like with everything else, it’s simply a case of to each his/her own.
D’CAFÉ RIA (2.307583, 111.820878) is located along Jalan Bunga Normah 4, the first shop on your right if you are coming via Lorong Ria 6 from Jalan Delta/Delta Estate, heading towards Simpang Tiga, now a roundabout where Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, Jalan Kpg Hilir and Jalan Kpg Nangka converge.
The curry definitely looks different. His ‘spicy’ is not at all spicy to you. Then it will be like water to me. Haha.
Pakistan, way up north like North India. North Indian curry is not spicy – you enjoy the fragrances and taste of the spices and other ingredients used. Sometimes when something is way too spicy, it steals the show and I can’t say I like it that much.
I do like curry, but on the very mild side. Nice photos. 🙂
You would like this one then – tasted great and not spicy.
Now craving for carbo after seeing all those rice…
I hear this long grain rice is healthier? Like Basmati?
Indeed it looks different & very dilute. No santan added?
Maybe that’s the reason it was different, Pakistani recipe perhaps? It was nice though, just not the same as our regular curries.
The long grained rice looks good.
It’s expensive like Basmati and not readily available here either.
I had to take a second look.. The rice is indeed longer than the normal rice I take.. Yes, taken them before, they look like dessicated coconuts or tiny mihun… Hahaa…
Yes, I think this is the 2nd time I’ve seen it here, not the usual kind of rice that we get to see all around town.
I like long grained rice, i bought once, one small packet, $5, if i didn’t remember wrongly, but my mum prefer the normal rice, so after that, didn’t buy liao…
It’s less starchy, I think, like Basmati rice – good for health especially for people with diabetic tendencies.
Oh…briyani yum! yum! I have yet to try the Arabic version.
It’s nice but all the rest aren’t too bad either and there are others that are much cheaper.
I bet I get the lowest score on naming the figurines. Have a terrible memory at the best of times, but for names it’s even worse.
More for those into these comic and movie heroes, I guess. I’m not one of them.
I think I see Deadpool hiding at the back of the collectibles!
I wouldn’t know that one but I do recall a movie by the name not too long ago. 😀
