+ (plus)…

I’ve been here several times before and I’ve blogged about those occasions too but all those times, I would order some dishes to go with rice. Well, not too long ago, I heard it said that the chap fan (mixed rice) here…

…was good so I decided to drop by to give it a try.

My missus had one meat and two vegetables (RM4.50)..

– the pork belly, mixed vegetables and fried cangkuk manis with egg while I had this (RM5.00)…

…and that got me wondering as to why I only had to fork out just 50 sen more for my picks.

Perhaps they counted the stewed pork leg and egg…

…as one serving so with the prawn fritters…

…and the fried cangkuk manis with egg…

…that would be counted as two meat and one vegetable only.

The nice young boy who served us was so nice as to pick all the lean meat from the stewed pork leg and I thought it tasted like the black vinegar version but I did not bother to find out exactly what it was. Needless to say, I enjoyed the egg but the fritters were all batter – I certainly would not bother picking those should I happen to drop by here again.

I was also told that their Foochow fried noodles was nice so I asked for a plate (RM4.50)…

…to try. Well, it was nice and they were very generous with the ingredients, all the green vegetables, the fish cake slices and the chicken – this is one of those places in town where they have substituted the pork in the noodles with poultry as the latter is cheaper…and the sellers here have just increased the price of pork again this month. Tsk! Tsk! However, I am not all that fond of the noodles done in this style where the sauce/gravy is clear so I would not be in a hurry to come back again for this.

A-PLUS FOOD CENTRE/RESTAURANT (2.293355, 111.823653) is located among the shops along Jalan Kampung Datu behind the block of shops (where Fair Price Supermarket is) near the traffic lights at its junction with Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and Jalan Kampung Nyabor.

  1. Your appetite seems to be very good as you ate both chap fan and noodles at the same time. I prefer your picks for the chap fan as the stewed pork leg and egg looked absolutely delicious!

I did not finish the noodles. I just wanted to try as I heard it was good, dunno when I would ever drop by again and even if I do, I probably would order a few dishes to go with rice like what I would usually do everytime I came here in the past. Pretty good, the things they dish out, one of the nicer places in town.

  2. I like your picks especially the stewed pork & egg & the meat is so lean. The noodles looks good too.

Yes, I did not ask the boy but he took two huge chunks, all lean. I would love some fat and skin though, especially when eating pork leg.

  3. It is nice to see generous portions.

Yes, the nice young boy did seem very generous. Other places, you will get a mere spoonful of each of your picks.

  4. Nice photos – all the dishes look good. I’d like to try that stewed pork, though. 🙂

Stewed pork was very nice, just that it tasted like black vinegar but I do like that as well.

  5. For 50sen more, your order is definitely more worth it…

I would think so too…but I did hear that vegetables do not come all that cheap these days either. Everything, the prices going up and up. 😥

  6. Oops! Sounds like it’s a B-minus for A-plus!

Go for their freshly-cooked stuff, will get an A, at least, if not an A+. One of those that have been around a long long time.
