No, it wasn’t the first time – I was here once before after the present people…
…took over from the ones who used to run the stall initially. That was back in 2015 but I could still remember how I did not really like the thick sauce that they poured over the meat right before serving.
Well, this coffee shop is located in the area of shops right behind the medical centre where my mum was (Thankfully, she has been discharged, Friday, and is now back home again, praise the Lord!) and as I happened to be passing by the other day, I decided to stop by…
…to give it another try.
The coffee…
…at this coffee shop was good, RM1.60, 10 sen more than what I had to fork out for the same here, just round the corner.
I was craving for some more siew yoke (roast pork) after the four miserable slices that I had in my platter the previous week so this was what I ordered (RM5.00)…
The rice was not anything to shout about – not the best nor was it the worst in town but I so loved the complimentary soup…
It was really good, not watered down or diluted like what one would get elsewhere and while others would use salted vegetables and give you a chicken claw in the soup (which I would not touch), here, they used those preserved Szechuan mustard green that I found a lot tastier and very much nicer.
Of course, I could not resist those lovely stewed eggs so I asked for one…
…and no, the guy did not pour any sauce over the meat…
…just a sprinkling of pepper (or maybe it was the mixture of toasted salt and pepper that they usually give with roast chicken at the restaurants) which was fine by me.
Yes, I would say that I enjoyed what I had that day…
…and I sure would not mind stopping by again.
Incidentally, if you are looking for pretty good yong tofu here in Sibu, this is the place to go to, the stall at the back, though the choices may be somewhat limited. Served in soup, personally I do feel it is nice, definitely good enough for me. That other place with the people from KL seems to have called its quits. I drove past the other day and it was closed and I did not see the shop sign and the banner. Anyway, I did not feel it was all that great, no love lost.
