Catch us if you can…

This current craze…

…is so popular that there have been claims that people hooked on it have got themselves involved in traffic accidents though there are also reports that deny that.

I haven’t the slightest idea what that is all about as I do not own a smartphone so I am not able to download that to check it out. However, I am no stranger to that cartoon character, or characters for that matter, as when my girl was little, she was so much into it. Gee!!! To this day, she can still remember the lyrics and sing the theme song! What I do know is if you have the application, you can go round looking for all those characters…

Gotta catch 'em all 1

…and catch them all…

Gotta catch 'em all

I bought this…

Pokemon Collector's File 1

…for my girl, first produced in 1995 and when I checked the dates, this one was the 2000 batch so that means it is already 16 years old, not quite an antique or a collector’s item yet, I suppose…

Pokemon Collector's File 2

I wonder how much I would get for this if I put it up for sale on eBay.

There are lots of things in the collector’s file such as this colourful poster…

Pokemon poster

…stickers…

Pokemon stickers

…and puzzles and games…

Find the Pokemon

Can you find the Pokemon? Do you know all their names?

And talking about their names, there was this report the other day that parents are naming their kids after those Pokemon characters. I do hope they know the characters well enough to pick a good one and as a matter of fact, they are all listed in this file with a brief description of each of them…

Snorlax

I wouldn’t mind picking this cute one…

Cute Pokeman

…if I had a kid to name. What about you? Pikachu? Hey, that rhymes!!! LOL!!!

Well, fads and trends come and go. Let’s just wait and see how long this one will last. In the meantime, are you one of those going round and catching them too?

  1. To be honest, I don’t play any online games and Pokemon doesn’t interest me. As well, I don’t drive, I take public transport. Needless to say I am happy and relieved that I don’t play these games, because I know how addictive they can be, and I don’t drive. 🙂

Yes, online games are addictive all right. At one time, there was Candy Crush…and before that, there was Farmville. I don’t play any either but my missus does – she’s retired like me and has a smartphone, not me, so she will play in between her Korean shows on tv.

Yes, I do feel one should not use one’s smartphone to play games or do anything else while driving. They just passed a law now that they will fine anybody with a phone in his or her hand while driving but like all laws, passing is one thing and enforcing is another. So many rules and laws here…and people just flaunt them in broad daylight – like illegal parking in the town centre or the ban on the use of polystyrene containers, for instance. NATO – no action, talk only. Sad.

  2. It’s coming to Malaysia soon. Personally I may install it, but won’t be too hooked to it I suppose. Don’t have time for these..

The soft toys should be cute 🙂

I don’t think there were any soft toys, can’t remember. I can only recall the Pokeball that I bought for my girl, not soft though. Hard…plastic!

  3. Sorry. I am not so crazy into those Japanese stuff. Never my thing. My bro is different. He loves Japanese comics, cartoons and kept many comics at home. Not much on Pokemon. Other Japanese icons. Doraemon, Dragon Balls, Conan etc. But luckily he is not crazy about those virtual or online game.

Heard so many complaints about this current craze. The Japanese is so clever.

Keep them, STP. They are collectible. Can pass down to your grandchildren someday and I am sure it worth a big fortune then. 😉

Grandchildren? Hmmmm…gotta catch a son-in-law first! Know anybody, by any chance? Hehehehehe!!!!!

My girl liked Doraemon too though not as much. She still likes Japanese anime to this day – maybe she’s attracted to the artworks but she was never into Dragon Ball, I think. There was one…Final Fantasy or something. That was big sometime ago.

  4. I may heard of these cartoon characters names but have the slightest idea of what it is all about. Wow, what you have bought for your daughter are all still well kept. Salute!!!…Ermm…the name Pikachu shouts like Pierre Chu.

Anybody you know by that name? Or Peter Choo? I know a few Choos…but no Peter. 😀

  5. I only know Pokemon and not all their names…

    I’m a bit better than you – I know Pikachu! 😀

  6. I also don’t play online games… maybe kids like… but so far, my kids also do not play… they only like to watch the square big box at home… all the HK dramas like their mum! But I heard a bit about this in FB… wonder if it has adverse effects on the kids these days.. hmmm….

Not just kids, big kids too! My missus plays games on her smartphone, dunno what – at one time, she was playing Candy Crush…but no, HK drams for her, Korean – not sure if she still watches the Japanese ones or not. I don’t play games nor watch tv, such a bore hor? 😀

  7. I’m actually a Pokemon idiot – I’ve never played the game, watched the shows, read the comics, owned the merchandise, or done anything associated with Pokemon! I may be tempted to download the app once it’s available in Malaysia, but I think I’ll probably steer clear of playing it seriously 😉

Who knows you may enjoy it so much till you get addicted? There is something about these games, I hear. That is why so many people get hooked. Some say it is the sounds, some say it is the lights – hypnotic! Dunno how true this is.

  8. My 40 year old sons were playing it the other day!! As for me, I don’t play games. Only online game I do is Sudoku.

LOL!!! It’s very popular Down Under, I hear. At least you do play one, I do not play any at all. So lazy.

  9. At least you know what is Pokemon 😀 I thought it was that yellow thing (Pikachu) and now I learn that it’s a collection of all those characters. I doubt if I will catch on to this Pokemon thing thing. LOL!

I am not in the least interested at all. Long long ago, when we first got our 1st PC, I bought the cds for games like Jeopardy, Who wants to be a millionaire. Wheel of Fortune…and those were the ones I played but that did not last long.

  10. lol….you got collection for pokemon too? my bro got quite a lot pokemon toys

Your bro? You have a bro? Older or younger than you. Bet he is waiting for the game to be made available in Malaysia.

  11. Huh? No Smart phone? How to whatsapp la like that?

P/S: Sorry for MIA for a few days, fell down and sprained my ankle, thank GOD no bone fracture.

Whatswhat? My friends will just call me as and when necessary – what’s that little bit of money between friends…and no, we guys do not call one another and chat…and chat…and chat…

Oh dear!!! Thank goodness you’re young and have had enough milk and dairy products. Strong bones! 😀
