Dessert…

So after the dinner that night, I took Raphael here for dessert.

Both of us had the vanilla latte ice blended that I tried on my previous visit (RM12.00 each)…

I was treated to a sample of that then and I liked it a lot. This time around, however, especially when we were already so full from dinner, we thought we would not mind that in a smaller glass, probably half the size at half the price.

However, I do understand the rationale behind it, why they would need to do it like that. Usually, young people would frequent such places (and that night, there was quite a crowd for a weeknight and around 90% were girls, just a couple of guys, I wonder where they have all gone to) and they would most likely order a drink each and sit the whole night through enjoying the comfortable environment and nice ambiance and they may or may not order something to eat…unlike at coffee shops where people come and go and they can actually make a lot more with their huge turnover every day.

We tried their pumpkin mille crepe (RM9.50)…

…and their red velvet (RM9.00)…

…despite the fact that we were already filled to the brim!

The pumpkin mille crepe was good, very nicely done…

…and not sweet too, like the Horlicks that I had the last time and between the two, I think I would prefer the latter. There was a wide range to choose from – yam, green tea, blueberry, cheese, chocolate & cheese…but no, we would not be able to handle any more than the slice that we had. Another time perhaps.

If I am not wrong, the glass cabinet where the cakes and the crepes were displayed doubles as a chiller so the red velvet was rather hard initially. It was all right for the crepes to be served cold – in fact, I like it that way but not when it comes to cakes. That was why I did not quite enjoy it at first but later, it did come across as pretty nice, I would say. It was very strong on its buttery fragrance and I thought it was just the cake but when Raphael pointed it out and I tried it to confirm, it was in the frosting too! I think I would prefer the regular cream cheese frosting and leave the butter to the cake. Like the crepes, there are so many different cakes to choose from and I certainly would want to try them one by one so I guess it would be quite a while before I would have another slice of this again.

The very nice and friendly boss, Dennis, let us sample the Japanese green tea latte…

…while we were there that night. Those who are into matcha would love the former with its very strong green tea fragrance and yes, we did enjoy both of them. Personally, I do like these being served in those small cups…and then, maybe I can order a few to enjoy instead of having just one in a big tall glass and that was it. For one thing, considering that actually, I am not really into these rich, creamy drinks – that, I must admit, others should not just take my word for it.  Personally, at the end of the day, I would be very much happier with the iced long black that I had before.

My friend, Sanjeev, treated us to these classic almond cookies…

…selling for 3 for RM2.00 but by then, we were way too full and could only manage one each, just to give them a try…and of course, when one is already bursting at the seams, that is not a good time to try or taste anything…so I would reserve my comments till the next time around perhaps.

Raphael was very impressed by the place and all the things on their menu and he said that was the first time he had a mille crepe. Ah well! I guess you do not get those at Starbucks, or do you? Not bad for this little ol’ town, eh? Wink! Wink!
