The one that got away…

…or to be exact, the ones that I did not get to try were these…

CAC Milano

…these…

CAC Lemon cheese

…these…

CAC Black & white cheese

…and these…

CAC Hazelnut cheese

There is this new cake place in town and that night, after our dinner, Huai Bin and I decided to drop by…

CAC

…to try their cakes.

We shared their white chocolate caramel cheese cake…

…which Huai Bin said was very good and he would prefer it to the other slice that we had, their tiramisu…

CAC tiramisu

…and personally, I think I liked the latter better as it was lighter and fluffier, not the usual rather dense and heavy texture that one would usually find in cheesecakes but Huai Bin prefers that and that was why he thought the former was nicer. For one thing, that certainly did not look anything like the tiramisu cakes (and mille crepe) that I am more familiar with, the ones with the chocolate fingers.

Generally, I do think that for a somewhat classier cafรฉ and especially at the prices they charge (all cakes are RM6.50 per slice and if I’m not mistaken, drinks are all RM3.50, whatever you order), they should invest in a desktop or laptop and a printer to print the labels and their menu…

*I thought ice [SIC] lemon tea would always be cold/cold and I really wonder how it could ever be hot… LOL!!!*

…instead of having them all handwritten and they should get a pair of scissors too and some decent paper as well instead of using some exercise book paper for their hand-torn labels…and some decent uniform for the staff would go a long way in making it a much nicer place to stop by and enjoy what they have to offer. I did notice, however, in the more recent photographs on their Facebook page that they have very much nicer labels now, though still handwritten and manually decorated but they’re nonetheless a lot nicer than the ones I saw when we dropped by that night.

There have been reviews via that social media by friends who have visited this place and generally, they all thought the cakes were nicer and cheaper than the ones at the cake franchise outlet in town. As for me, I am not all that fond of cheesecakes and it seems that they only have those here so I guess I would not be making my way back there anytime soon…but please don’t take my word for it.

If you love cheesecakes, perhaps you should drop by and give their a try since everyone thinks very favourably of them. It is located right next to the celebrated Hong Fu Restaurant (back to back with Courts Mammoth) to the left of Medan Mall along Wong King Kuo Road. On the opposite side is the very popular Anson Cafe and the Korean fried chicken franchise, Pelicana is to the right of the opposite block.

  1. Rm 6.50 for a slice of cake ?! That’s very very cheap! Some atas cafes here charging Rm 20 (after surcharges) for a slice of cake. Tsk.

The cafe is definitely not so atas… ๐Ÿ˜€ It can be though if they would just see to a few things and touch up a bit here and there. Yes, everyone was telling me about this place or to be exact, I told them and they went to try before I finally dropped by myself – they all said nicer and a lot cheaper than SR, that franchise cake place even.

  2. i love white chocolate, so i know which one i’d choose. i know a lot of people prefer dark chocolate or milk chocolate, but i’m rooting for white! ๐Ÿ˜€

Not so healthy but that’s my preference too! ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Ooh, Lemon Cheese – that sounds like something I’d like. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We didn’t order that but if it’s cheesecake, I’m not a fan. Loved it once but I had an overdose of it and that has put me off it for good. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  4. Yeah, that’s not what a normal tiramisu cake would look like. I guess the cake is just a normal buttery cake, they just put the tiramisu as the cream topping?
I would order the Ice Lemon Tea (Hot) and see what they serve me. I did something similar once in a western restaurant (Milwaukee steakhouse in Balakong), I ordered their Iced Coffee (Hot), the waitress took the order, then came back 2 minutes later with a perplexed look ๐Ÿ˜€

LOL!!! Was that on their menu? Looks like this isn’t an isolated case then. I guess it just did not cross their minds when they were preparing the menu – sort of going through the motions – this hot, that cold…for everything.

  5. These look delectable!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

They say they’re good…and cheaper too. Around US$2.00. I wonder how much such cakes are at your end.

  6. So much varieties of cakes. All looks so tempting but frankly speaking, I am not a fan of cakes. Cheesecake, maybe I like if not too cheesy. Price wise, is cheap compare to Secret Recipe.

Cheaper and nicer too, they say. I wouldn’t know – I am not a fan of cheesecakes, grown off those already…and I would rather have the tall ones at SR – will cost much more though, a wedge…but they’re bigger.

  7. Lovely cakes. I didnt notice this shop before.

I am not really a big fan of cakes but I wouldnt mind having few bites of them once a while. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can drop by. Right next to your favourite crab restaurant.

  8. Mate.. Loving those cakes!

Can you possibly send me a few over to Bali? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here I am trying to diet and you are just destroying that for me! Argh..

What’s in that milano cake though? Is that chocolate? The black and white cheese cake looks absolutely delicious.. Yummy!

    Cheers,
    Ken

Not too sure about that Milano cake – I just assumed it’s chocolate but I could be wrong – may be something else inside, coated with chocolate on the outside. Maybe I’d try that should I happen to drop by this place again…since I’m not into the rest, all cheese cakes.

You’re on diet? Gee!!! But you’re in very good shape…though if I were to hop over to Bali, I wouldn’t be for long. All the nice things to eat there. Oopssss!!!! I’m already grossly out of shape – can’t possibly do any further damage! Hehehehehehe!!!!

Cheers to you too. Thanks for dropping by & commenting.

  9. I’d probably choose Milano. ๐Ÿ™‚

I wasn’t so keen on the chocolate that I saw. Maybe it’s cheese cake inside, coated with chocolate and if that’s the case, I think I’d pass.

  10. Ello you just cannot ‘pao kah liao’ one, gotta leave some for people.

I only had a bit of two, we shared – lots more….but since I am not fond of cheesecakes, I probably would not be going again all that soon…so no worries! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. This looks amazing! I have the largest sweet tooth (currently eating a slice of Honey Walnut cake right now) and am drooling at these photos. I’ll take a Milano, please ๐Ÿ™‚

Gee!!! I should have tried that. Sounds like it is a favourite. No worries, will do that when I drop by again.

Your first time here, I see. Welcome and thanks for commenting. Hope you’ll drop by again – will add your link to my blogroll. Cheers!

  12. I love cheesecake! It appears that this cake shop specializes in cheesecakes only? I just baked a lemon cheesecake yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

I guess I’ll be seeing that in your blog then. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. I think I missed commenting in this post… how come? Just now I scrolled down, I didn’t see my comment… Ok, never mind… maybe I was too busy partying in KL… hahaha… and missed one post of yours! These desserts look drooling enough, if I were there, I wouldn’t know which one to pick … but I think I will try the tiramisu… ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe. You were busy over the long weekend, enjoying yourself in KL. Must be so happy to have your boys home too. Your girl didn’t go back? At our age, our lives revolve around our kids, not much else.

  14. Another new cafe? Wow!

Cakes looks good, but like you said exercise book paper for their hand-torn labels, a bit O.M.G. ๐Ÿ˜›

Yup, but latest photos show they have improved on the labels…a bit.

  15. I don’t fancy the cotton soft Japanese cheese cake…I prefer those chilled types with a crust :).
Rm6.50 as slice, ok lah, if it tastes good. There’s so many gourmet pastry house over here selling cakes and buns at exhorbitant prices ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

I’m the opposite of you then. Used to make those chilled types long ago, those days when I loved them so much. Not anymore.
