This place is called iBake…
…and my friends were telling me about it some time ago. If I remember correctly, they mentioned that they do make cream puffs here and since I was in the area that morning – among the shops in the area at the back of Medan Mall, Wong King Huo Road, I thought I would just stop by to see what they had.
I don’t know if the things were cheap or expensive as I do not usually go for such things but it seemed like everything was around the region of RM2.60 – 2.80 like these blueberry mini-Danish pastries that I bought…
…for instance, for three of them.
I also grabbed this ham and sausage quiche…
…to try and these toast sandwiches…
…as well. This bun…
…had custard cream inside but frankly, I did not feel it was anything to shout about.
I did not get these larger Danish pastries…
…nor these ham and cheese buns…
– which seemed to cause many of my young Facebook friends’ imagination to run wild when I shared the photograph there, I wonder why.
Personally, I thought that everything looked very pleasant and presentable – why, the guy had won some kind of award before, it seemed…
…though honestly, I can’t say that I was overwhelmed by the taste of any of the things that I bought that day. None of them stood out as anything so very special, a must-buy and a must-eat, if anyone is in town.
I was there at around 10 in the morning and my friends did say that I should go around noontime as prior to that, they would not have most of the stuff ready and displayed for sale and true enough, I did not get to see any cream puffs, not even one…so I guess I would need to make another trip there again sometime but a little later in the day.
P.S.:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Happy Chap Goh Meh
And Valentine’s Day too…
Well, might be a place for me, as I have sweet tooth 😉
Have to go again. Yet to find something that I really really like…
Your blog is heaven of food. But some places are so alien to us despite from Sibu too. Happy NEW Year to you & family.
You’re from here? Migrated abroad? Many new areas around – Sibu’s growing, spreading out of the very congested town centre. Happy Chap Goh Meh & Valentine’s Day to you…and thanks for dropping by my blog and for commenting. Cheers.
You and I must make a pact… What’s the song title? Yes today is a special day for lovebirds……
I’ll be there….but how can you be here when you are so far away, all the way in Melbourne? 😦
Like all of them except the Danish pastries. Guess I am not a sweet tooth person. Today on a cooking spree. Happy Chap Goh Mei to you & family.
Not a fan of Danish pastries either. Same to you, just having steamboat – girl coming back afternoon – will be too tired to eat much, keeping it simple.
The blueberry pastries look yummy, I can have 5 pieces of that I think, hehe. Oohh and cream puffs, I love cream puffs.. I prefer custard-filling cream puffs. Most bakeries I see are doing whipped cream-fillings…
Yes to go and get some to try. I don;t like those with whipped cream – durian cream, cream puffs are nice too!
Yum. I do enjoy a good bakery.
Me too but what they had that morning weren’t anything to shout about. Will go again and see what else they have.
haha, iBake and uBake huh?? errr, i think RM2.60-RM2.80 is kind of mid price.. maybe expensive for a custard bun, but cheap for a ham and cheese bun or toast..
uBuy, iEat! Yup, the custard bun’s not worth it – just bread with custard cream inside. Could have gone for kampua mee instead, more filling and would enjoy it more!
hahaha!! Roses are red, Violets are blue, Happy Chap Goh Meh, And Valentine’s Day too…
you know what?? this reminds me of those things written on my primary school “autograph book”..
I have a pen, My pen is blue, I have a friend, My friend is you..
muahahahaha!!! 😀
Blue? I thought your pen is red? 😀
I’ve another one: Roses are red, violets are blue. Guys are born handsome, what happened to you? 😀
Happy Chap Goh Meh and Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Thanks, and the same to you.
Love the design of the shop sign on the door. Very English. hehe.
Happy Chap Goh Meh & Happy Valentine’s day to you too.
Same to you, thank you. Yup, nice place…but I’m more interested in what they sell.
Happy Chap Goh Meh & Valentine’s Day to you…
Thanks, you too.
Happy Valentine’s Day and Chap Goh Meh to you! Have a lovely day.
Thanks, and to you too.
Happy Chap Goh Mei and Valentine Day to you and your Missus too 🙂
Thank you. Ummmm…Melissa tak ada ke? Same to you and yours.
First glance at today’s post title, I thought it would be a lovey dovey post! Haha.. Anyway the toasted sandwiches, ham & sausage quiche and ham & cheese buns look good. Nothing to shout about, you say?
Happy Valentines’ Day 😀
Same to you. Ya, I thought they all looked sooooo good but nope, didn’t get me jumping up and down with delight. I may even find some better stuff elsewhere.
Oh, yeah..and Happy Chap Goh Mei too!
…and to you too!
wow…nice poem ! haha… nowadays, buns and pastries are so expensive. A walk into the bakery, you will need to spent at least RM10.
That happened to me when I stepped into this one… 😦
happy valentine & chap goh meh to you…
Those bakery looks delicious to me…
Same to you. Hmmmm….never judge based on appearance. 😉
I like to go inside bakeries and look see look see. Always enjoy the sight of baked goods and of course it is nice to buy and sample. Sometimes, they don’t taste as good as they look 😦
Me too. Many here, everything looks nice…but unfortunately, it ends there. 😦
Happy Valentine’s Day & Haaapppy Chap Goh Mei to you and family.
Yay!! I like bakery, admire those cakes, and smell its ‘fresh from oven aroma …’
but those bakeries buns & pastries etc are quite pricey though in PJ/KL
Not cheap here either…and lately the prices have been going up and up and up – should boycott, don’t buy and eat. All right, prices all going up…but surely not by around 30 to as much as 50%!!! That’s the huge jump in the price of bread here. 😦
The danish pastries look awesome wei! Happy Valentine’s Day to you too, i’ll be rotting at home tonight, not having a date sadly LOL
So sad. Your standard too high, no girl in town can live up to it? We’ll have steamboat at home for Chap Goh Meh – not going to get caught in that Valentine thingy, thank you.
oh..that ham and cheese looks good and so do the danish, i love danish pastries, but prefer fresh fruits on top.
Happy chinese valentine’s and western valentine’s to you, Melissa and Lucy and happy chap goh meh too!!
Same to you and your loved ones. You like? They’re good, just that I’m not into Danish. They may have fruits….but will only come out later. I was too early. 😦
They all look so yummy!
It’s still the new year, right? Best wishes for a greater year ahead filled with happiness, health and prosperity! Huat ahh! 😀
Thanks, and wishing the same to you…if I haven’t done that yet. 😉
Yum! Yum! I always love the pastries, cakes and buns with creams! At the hotel buffets, I would sweep the dessert corners! The large Danish Pastry with berry jam in your post really made me drool. I have not seen a similar one here.
Happy Valentines Day and Happy Chap Goh Meh to you & loved ones!
Same to you and yours. If you love Danish, you would love this bakery. Seems that’s their specialty.
Must say everything looked good. With pastries..they always look better than they taste.
Gong xi fa cai / Happy Chap Goh Meh
Happy Valentine’s Day.
This year we have a 2 in1!
Same to you, thanks. I’m not really into buns & pastries – only a few and I don’t mind even if they do not look nice – the taste is the most important.
For girls, they must like this…(but kinda weird I’m female coz I don’t really like it…)
To each his/her own…
