Dreams come true…

On our first night, smallkucing and his parents went out of their way to pick us up at our hotel in KLIA, Sepang…and they took us all the way to Sunway to this shopping mall for dinner…

M & J

I’ve only been here once a long, long time ago on one of my working trips when it first opened and some ex-students of mine who were around at the time brought me here. I remember this ice skating rink all right…

Now where were we heading to that night? Well, I had always dreamed of dining at this place – Tony Roma’s…

Tony Roma's Sunway Pyramid

…long before they had outlets in our country. There were people way back then who had tried their food at some outlet(s) in Singapore and they were raving about it, praising it to the skies. Soon after, they started setting up their restaurants here and there in Malaysia but I never did get round to dropping by to indulge in what nice stuff there might be. I hear that this particular outlet at the Sunway Pyramid is the best around.

I’m not too sure but I think this was complimentary…

Bread

…and they provided garlic butter to go with it.

This was definitely on the house…

Mushrooms

– their so-very-nice fried mushrooms with their really awesome dip. I really enjoyed that…very much! It seems that if there is something that you are not happy with, you can email them to air your grievances and they will reply, giving you something free on your next visit to make up for it – usually an onion roll but mamakucing responded saying that she did not like that and got this instead. I must say that the serving was soooo huge that it would be enough for a complete meal by itself. As a matter of fact, when I was walking into the place, I was appalled by the sight of what the other diners were having – the plates were all so enormous and I just could not imagine myself finishing anything all alone – that was why I insisted that we just ordered a couple of items on the menu to share.

Mamakucing ordered this New York strip…

NYS

…and it was really nicely done – medium rare…

…and very tender and definitely not dry. For one thing, you need to eat it on its own so as to be able to savour the freshness and sweetness of the beef without its very nice taste being drowned out by the much stronger taste of the other orders like the sauce in these ribs, for instance…

BR sampler

Gosh!!! Those ribs were absolutely awesome. They were so very nice and the sauce was really great as well.

Ah yes! Just in case, you’re wondering, we did have some vegetables as well in the form of this Ceasar’s salad…

CS

This was pretty good too…but I would not say the same about their baked jacket potato…

BJP

…as whatever cream they had in it was not to my personal liking.

smallkucing had the kiddie’s meal and for starters, he was served some carrot and celery sticks, two each, with a dip – I wouldn’t say kids would jump up with glee at the sight of that and this spaghetti dish followed…

I tried a bit but I would say that mine was a whole lot nicer.

The dessert came in the form of ice cream with chocolate or cocoa powder sprinkled on top…

…and as you can see, it did not look very enticing at all. He did not want it so Melissa had the honour of finishing it for him.

I loved the bottomless drinks – for some of the drinks on the menu like the fruit juices, for instance, they would keep on refilling without any additional charges.

All in all, that truly was a really delightful dinner and I really enjoyed it a lot. Thank you so much, smallkucing and papa and mama, for making one of my dreams come true.
