Still rockin’…

Born in 1940, that would make him 73 years old this year…our Peter Pan of Pop, Cliff Richard. If you’re my age or maybe older…and perhaps, even younger, I am sure you would know some of his songs, at least. We even sang one of them at our alumni’s annual reunion dinner recently…

The Young Ones

– “The Young Ones” from his movie of the same name.

Well, my cousin in Melbourne, Australia went to his concert recently and bought me one of the souvenir t-shirts…

T-shirt

…but unfortunately, it is way too small for me. What do you expect? It is only an XL, and I would need a 3XL or 4XL, at least. I think it is big enough for my missus though – it may be a bit loose at the moment…but no worries, it’d probably fit her better soon enough! Hehehehehehe!!!!

She also got me the cap…

Cap

Gee! This is the 2nd cap that I’ve received in the course of one week! Hmmm…probably they think that I would need to wear those now that I’m getting thinner…at the top!!! Tsk! Tsk! LOL!!!

My cousin was here on a flying visit to celebrate her hubby’s grandma’s 100th birthday and she was able to pass me those memorabilia as well as all these…

From Oz

I guess it is pretty obvious to everybody why there is no chance whatsoever for me to fit into that XL t-shirt, don’t you think? LOL!!!

Anyway, back to good ol’ Cliff Richard, do you have a favourite song by him? Personally, I prefer his more recent recordings such as “Miss you nights” or “Ocean Deep“. Come, tell me which one do you like the most?

  1. Hahaha, surprise that I know him at my age!!! =]

I guess with these all-time greats like the late Teresa Teng, they transcend age barriers. Young or old, they would all know them…or their songs.

  2. woot woot!!! is our Food Mayor still going to rock like Cliff Richard at his age later?? hehe, perhaps he has been doing that all these years already?? come on, do a video and show us STP!!! hehe~~ :p

Not long to go…only 12 years away. Too bad, can’t get hold of a video of our performance at the alumni dinner.

    1. next time shoot a video of yourself rocking and post to youtube, you can be the next youtube sensational phenomena STP!! even BN also want to hire you to perform at their function like PSY~~:D

Never mind! I am quite happy the way I am – don’t need all those people coming and slamming me in my blog using all kinds of vulgar obscene language – cursing all my forefathers from generations long gone by…just like what they did to that Chinese singer Nicholas Teo, when he came to sing in Sibu. Stupid is what stupid does! He was paid, a professional – you pay him lah – to sing for you or to not come to Sibu! I really cannot understand these people. Siao liao!!! So fanatical! Like gangster, so uneducated, uncivilised! Really not healthy at all this kind of negative attitude and mentality…and now they are picking on poor Michelle Yeoh! I really blush in shame…that this is the kind of people I have in my country.

  3. I like Tin Soldier, Constantly and I Could Easily Fall In Love with You, among many others.

That’s “Wind me up (let me go)” – ok with that one, and “I could easily fall in love with you too”…

  4. My favourites are “Congratulations” and “Constantly.”
I remember when I was in school, the girls were either Elvis or Cliff Richard’s fans. We had pretty heated discussionson our idols. Those were the days….

Yeah, rivals…fighting tooth and claw. LOL!!!

  5. Opppss!!!…some more goodies again. Cliff Richard, my idol. Actually love most of his songs, “The Young Ones” and “I could easily fall in love” to mention a few.

Ahhhh!!!! From my time too eh? Hehehehehehe!!!!!

  6. I am still in love with Ocean Deep from CR… in fact, this is a must sing song at any karaoke session for me… lol….

on another note.. I spied corned beef and bovril… mmm.. wondering if these two will go together in flavors?? XD

Oh? You sing Ocean Deep? I’m impressed. I think I tried before…but since I could not do it justice, I just gave up.

  7. My dad love Cliff Richard’s song too. Arthur, you really rock! I like to hear The Young Ones….

Age is just a number – you are as old as you think!

  8. Cliff Richard is one of my aunt’s idols! I did listen to some of his songs in the 80’s like his duet with Olivia Newton John. I think the song is called Suddenly. Nice looking guy too πŸ™‚

Yes, I love Suddenly too. Hmmm…old and wrinkled now. LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  9. He’s still doing concerts? Wow!

Yes! Was in Auckland recently…and then the next night in Wellington, he came on stage and greeted, “Hello, Auckland!!!” and the crowd was stunned speechless…and then in Melbourne or was it Sydney, he joked,”I know I’m not in Wellington!” I wonder if he knew where he was. Nyanyuk already!

  10. Everyone looks so stiff and uncomfortable in the first photo except you.

Haha! I’m sure you enjoyed belting out those tunes.

I listened to him as a kid too (not my choice, mom plays it along with ABBA, Carpenters etc). I didn’t know he was still performing!

Maybe they’re not used to being in the limelight/spotlight. Hehehehehehehe!!!!! Oh, he most certainly is!!! Just finished a tour of Oz and NZ.

    1. Haha! Yeah, true that, noticed a lot of Sibu people aren’t, except for us. πŸ˜‰

Interesting! A blast from the past, an oldie but goldie indeed!

      I’m used to it – quite shameless… LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  11. oooh, yes, i think my favorite cliff richard song might be ‘the young ones,’ just like what you sang. it’s ironic, i remember first learning and singing it at a school camp when i was maybe 16 or 17, and it felt like we’d be young forever. and now i’m more than double that age, heheh πŸ˜€

But still young…at heart, at least!!! Time sure flies!

  12. Cliff Richard…..heard this name since I was a child, but never really listened to his songs.

Oh dear! Tune in to TraxxFm, Saturdays and Sundays – 6.00-9.00 a.m. and you will surely get to hear a couple of his songs every week.

  13. When I know what is music, it was all MJ’s songs. Hehehehe!

May be my big brother knows Cliff more.

Wah!!! You’re so young!!! MJ’s a decade later…starting with the Jackson 5 in the 70’s.

  14. There’s still a solution to your dilemma STP. The solution is fasting. πŸ™‚ Do it and your size will shrink from 3XL to XL.

No need lah…not for the sake of wearing a Cliff Richard t-shirt. Eyewwwww!!!!

  15. well my father was tuned in on a radio who plays old songs and
i think i heard some of his songs for i was kinda familiar with his name
    anyway those were cool souvenirs

Ya…especially if one is his fan. I prefer the edible gifts though. Hehehehehehehe!!!!!

  16. all the time i thot there is beef extract in the bovril, what abt the ones in msia? also like cliff’s missed u nites, infact he said in the concert it was one of his favourite n he was surprised it never sold as well as he thought it will.

Same here, no beef extract…but if we’re lucky, we may find some shops selling the ones with beef – seldom see though. Ya, and Westlife sang it too. Love that song, very nice.

  17. Cliff Richard! I only know “Ocean Deep”. hehehe!

A favourite of mine too. Have you heard the Mandarin/Cantonese version by Emil Chau (Wakin)? – It has a very “interesting” video clip.
