Lucky strike…

I got lucky the other day… Wait a minute! No, I did not hit on any SYT (sweet young thing), I’m afraid…not at my age, unfortunately but I won a little bit of money at lottery.

My mobile phone number came out, all the last 6 digits except the 2nd one…which meant that I only got 4 in a row correct. If I had got all 6, I would have won RM200,000 for my RM2.00 and it would be goodbye to everybody – I would be off on an extended holiday, that’s for sure, and if it had been the 1st or the last digit, I would have got RM6K in total. Sigh!!! I’m afraid that was not meant to be and all I got was RM600.00.

Well, that was an improvement from the time when my house phone number came out and the 3rd digit was incorrect. I only got RM8.00 for the first two and RM60.00 for the last three, a total of RM68.00 so it certainly was a little bit better this time around.

I asked my daughter what she wanted to eat for our little celebration and she wanted Japanese so there we were back at this place in town for lunch that Sunday afternoon…

No pork

Unfortunately, when we got there, we were informed that they were out of salmon and fresh beef that day but somehow, we were able to order this very nice plate of salmon fried rice (RM16.90)…

SFR

Probably they used smoked for this but they did not have any fresh salmon for their sashimi or sushi or whatever else or at least, that was what I reckoned they meant.

We all loved their kabocha korokke (RM13.90)…

JPC

– the Japanese pumpkin croquettes.

My daughter wanted these kani mayo tobiko maki (RM6.90)…

Maki

…which she and the mum shared. I did not touch that even though I was pretty sure that there was no crab at all in those imitation crab sticks – I’m never a fan of those. I was abstaining from all seafood at that point in time so that was why we did not order any prawn or soft-shell crab stuff which Melissa would have loved very much.

We also had the chicken karrage (RM8.90)…

Karaage

…and the chicken yakitori (RM10.90)…

Yakitori

Both were pretty good – my missus and Melissa liked them very much but on my part, I thought the meat tasted bland – to me, it lacked the sweetness of fresh chicken so I was not exactly too thrilled by them.

Well, on the whole, it was delightful enough and we all had our fill. Of course, it cannot compare with the feast we had in Auckland, New Zealand…but as they say, beggars can’t be choosers. At those prices, I wouldn’t say that was cheap though – definitely not something paupers and beggars can afford. RM5.00 for a little pot of green tea, I have to say, isn’t all that affordable…but since it was money from my little windfall, it was perfectly all right. As they say, easy come easy go!

  1. Congrats Arthur! I have never won anything big in a lottery my whole life… and I’ve stopped placing bets… other than the yearly TOTO CNY draw with top prize money of S$10Mil…

Hehe…good for all of us that you did not win big… or I would miss your daily post!

Wow!!! Don’t forget me when you win, ya! LOL!!! Ooooo….you’d miss me? That’s flattering. Wink! Wink! LOL!!! 😀

  2. I’m not really into Japanese food, feel that they are quite bland for me, but these looks really yummy though.

Not me either but my daughter loves it. Good for a change though – something lighter once in a while.

  3. I don’t even know how to place a bet and don’t really know how the whole betting system works. Don’t know what’s the difference between 3D and 4D and what have you, either! Would love to try to bet though as who knows I might have a beginner’s luck.. Lol! Not bad the Jap food but the price is a bit steep. I would have chosen Ruby or Payung, never mind if they are not Jap food 🙂

Melissa’s choice mah. Her wish is my command… 😉 Easy…you send me your money and I’ll play for you and I’ll let you know when you do not win. Hehehehehe!

  4. Oh wow….everything looks so mouth-watering! I have to try and cook them 😀

No sushi stalls there? Lots in NZ. Melissa frequented them a lot in Wellington – she loves the sushis and what have you.

  5. Japanese food in Sibu is disappointing. I’ve been to this place a few times & I feel that I am not getting value.
Come over to Kuching one day & let me take you to Sanga. It’s the best Jap restaurant I’ve had in Sarawak. Sashimi as thick as your thumb! Slurp!

Beggars can’t be choosers – I prefer this one to the other place. Oh? Was in Kuching once a long time ago, called you…but did not come over to take me out leh? Hmmm…maybe you did not know me very well then. So this time around, you’ll take me to a Japanese dinner, eh? Is this place the one at Rubber or Nanas Road – they say it’s the best in Kuching but the most expensive? Ooooo….looking forward to that.

      1. Just checked it out online. hmm~~ Looks interesting. Worth a try.
IF we get to meet in Kuching, I shall bring you there. But NOT on my bike.

Why? You may just enjoy it… Hehehehehehe!!!!

  6. RM600.00 is better than nothing! I don’t have this type of luck, never strike anything 😦 But if you do win big, I am sure all of us would benefit because you would be travelling round the world and have more stories to tell us 🙂

Hmmmm…so rich, having so much time…wouldn’t have time to blog already lor… Muahahahahaha!

  7. wow..winning 600K ah.. hahahaa… never mind.. 600RM also is good! More than BR1M by a hundred.. many more meals can be spent with that amount of money.. 🙂

Yup…and try and try again! At least, can hope… Something to look forward to.

  8. Congrats. RM600 can eat a lot of kampua noodles and pian sip 🙂
Both me and my wife loves Japanese foods, especially sashimi…yummy!

Yup! Enough for one month’s food supply…more or less.

  9. Congratulations!!!

    Saw my favourite sushi, hehe…

Thanks, Melissa ordered that. I’m not really a fan of sushi – will eat, but not too crazy over them. Love those with avocado & soft shell crab though.

  10. wah so good lah you strike RM600!! went for expensive japanese meal huh?? should use that RM600 to fly to KL and then belanja us the even more expensive japanese food in KL lah~~ muahahaha!! 😀

Dream on, my friend, dream on… RM600 not even enough for return airfare. 😦

  11. Yeah!!…luck is on your way. Not bad. Start off with a small windfall to big windfall, haha!!!!.. Not a fan of Japanese food but all the above looks great though.

    Yes, yes…let us pray!!! 🙂

  12. Me, bet on i-perm and some more only 4 digit also never strike . You are so lucky!!!…

A little bit here and a little bit there, nothing big…

  13. Nvm la…better luck coming I guess. At least you did strike somethg oso.
    I hate buying numbers. When I buy time…habuk pun takde keluar…when I don’t buy time…the number comes out. =_=

Hoping for that…soon! Sometimes, no luck – all numbers not even close…I also will stop buying for a while.

  14. Would’ve nice to get RM200,000.00. Then can go on long holiday/tour of Semenanjung Malaysia and visit bloggers here! LOL

But RM600 also not bad la… CONGRATS!

RM200K, I would be far far away already lor…where got wanna go round peninsula already then? Hehehehehehe!!!

  15. Wow! RM600, big money. I always don’t have the luck, not once. 😦

That salmon fried rice look very good, yum yum.

Can try once in a while – it will come when it will come. The fried rice was very nice – can see the partially burnt grain of rice. Very fragrant.

  16. RM600? Better than none 🙂

I love Japanese food and so do my children, hehehe, I have ‘kaki’ already even though my hubby dislike it.

I’m like your hubby then. Not actually dislike…just that I prefer others. Too mild for me and too expensive.

  17. congrats on the cash! and we’ll cross our fingers that next time, it’ll be RM6,000! 😀

No, no…RM200,000 and you’ll see me in KL…plus you’re be invited to the big bash! How does that grab you? 😉

  18. Wow..congrats on the $$$$. Save up some to buy me kampua & pian sip.ehehheheh

Kampua and piansip so cheap..no need to save, also can afford. Hehehehehe!!!!

  19. Congrats Arthur! RM600 not bad ma… I havent even won a single cent from the lottery before 😛

Thanks. Nah! You don’t need this – not like this poor old pensioner. Sobssss!!!! 😀

  20. RM600 is pretty good! I will never win anything since I don’t touch these stuff la. congrats!

Hah!!! You so loaded mah! 😉 I did not use to either but these days, I just buy a bit and wait – something to look forward to and it helps pass the time more quickly…or at least, it seems so.

  21. Wow…RM 600 is a good prize….Congrats !!!
    Must treat me makan-makan lol.

    Come, come!!! Anytime, no problem.

  22. that kabocha korokke seems the best on this set of meals
it seems kinda crunchy outside and soft and chewy inside

    All’s good…

  23. i have a gross like feeling whenever i see jelly circles compressed on something haha
it seems some sort of eggs hahah
anyways that kani mayo tobiko maki could be an exception

What? Where? Aren’t those caviar? They are eggs! Roe…fish eggs.

  24. well something is better than nothing! congras on the lil windfall and cheers to a bigger one round the corner:D

i hate crabsticks…too sweet for my liking.

We’re one of a kind! Ya…looking forward to the BIG one indeed! 😉

  25. congrats! better strike something than none, right?? 😛

Japanese restaurant that runs out of salmon? a bit strange… hehehe oh well… food looks decent. I dont see any salmon in the fried rice though… hehehe

They import theirs fresh – Norwegian air-flown. When they have, they will announce on Facebook. They do not buy from the cold storage shops here – those we have…a lot! So once, they run out…we will have to wait for the next shipment. That is the reason…and we do not get fresh beef here too – unless we get from Kuching (SaraBif). Here, all frozen…the better ones would be those imported from Australia and New Zealand.

  26. Whoa, that was a close one. I always get close calls like this too – 8866 came out the other day, I had 8(blank)66 I didn’t know what the second number I wanted to buy so I thought – 3, 5, 6, 8, 9? I reckon I seldom buy 0 so I went for 8066. -_-

RM 200,000! Oh well, next time buddy!

Hopefully…and when I do strike, you’ll be among the first to know. 😉

  27. Congrats STP! You are one lucky one, RM600 is not bad.

Thanks. Ya, not bad at all…considering that it comes for free…or almost.

  28. 600 8 68….mmmmmm….600868? can try since you have lucky with 6 and 8

No lah…I just buy my car numbers, my IC number, birth cert number, telephone numbers…and then pray! If memang ditakdirkan that I will strike, any number will also come out.
