Brand new…

A new day, a new place…and this time, we went loitering around Newmarket which is considered to be New Zealand’s premier retailing area…

NM2

…and fashion capital, rivalling the Auckland CBD…

NM3

Here, one can see a mixture of modern…

NM4

…and old colonial architecture…

NM5

I was somewhat amused by this…

NM6

– Bruce being American Chinese and sushi being Japanese…and also this…

NM6a

Poor Bieber! LOL!!! As you can see in the photo, they have a Movenpick outlet here too and at many other places in Auckland but with the very nice New Zealand ice cream, I wonder why anyone would want to go for that. I guess it’s like going to those branded places for their expensive coffee when we can jolly well hop into one of the coffee shops for our cheaper and very much nicer local brew.

My friends took us to a shopping mall here where they had a lady singing to entertain shoppers…

NM7

We did not buy anything there – everything in NZ is so expensive, even without conversion, dollar to ringgit…but I was attracted by these lovely bird cages there…

NM8

I saw this very nice apron…

NM9

I would have bought the one that said, “My dad – the man…the legend!” but horror of horrors!!! They were priced at NZ$59.90 each!!! And I’m sure they were made in China – with that kind of money, I can go to the Supersave or 100% Discount stores here and buy enough aprons to last a lifetime. Tsk! Tsk!

One interesting thing that I saw here was this postlady – no, not  a postman but a postlady…

NM11

…and the ones here either cycle around or walk to deliver the mails, not like our snail-mail guys who would go around on motorcycles as and when they feel like it…and still take ages to send our mail to our doors. Tsk! Tsk!

After looking around most of the shops in this area, we certainly worked up an appetite so where else next, if not to lunch…but that will be in the next post. You’ll come back, won’t you? Cheers!

New day…

It was a new day – our 5th (5½) in Auckland, New Zealand…and we had breakfast before leaving the house to explore more places in and around the city.

We had these lovely savoury pastries…

BF1

…and everybody would know by now that I would prefer these to anything sweet.

The pie was very nice…

BF2

…and I loved the roll too…

BF3

I do not quite remember enjoying the other one with the mashed potato topping so I guess it did not leave much of an impression. For one thing, I would like to think that my own mashed potatoes are nicer than others’. LOL!!!

We also had this what-they-call lasagne squares…

B4

…which were all right as well – pretty good, I would say…

B5

…and I would say the same about the lamingtons too…

B6

…with the cream…

B7

…or without…

B8

…and those snot blocks as well. Eeeeee….what a name! Ewekkkkk!!!! LOL!!!

So, after that pleasant breakfast that morning, off we went…and do come back if you want to see what we had up our sleeves that day. See you!
