Driving home…

Over a week ago, my friend, Jimmy, was driving home to Serian from Bintulu as he had got his transfer to a school in Kuching. He contacted me and arranged to meet for breakfast during his brief stop in Sibu en route so that morning, my missus and I went to the other side of town to this place to wait for him. When he arrived, we went to the food court at the back of the complex for a bite to eat. I have been here a few times before and I thought that some of the stuff available at the stalls were pretty good.

This time around, we decided to try some of the things from this stall…

I had their mee perut sapi (beef tripe noodles), RM5.00, which was all right – not something that I would be dying to have again, much less go out of my way just to eat that. I did take a photograph of it but I must have deleted it by mistake – I can’t seem to find it anywhere now. Tsk! Tsk!

Everybody else had their lor mee (RM4.00)…

…and they all said it was good though I did not see them jumping up and down in delight.

Actually, it was the kompia stuffed with minced meat (80 sen per piece)…

…that stole the show. They did not look very alluring and looking at the thinness and the odd shapes, I could guess where they got them from. Anyway, they did it very well, the filling tasted great and all things considered, if I were to drop by the place again, I certainly would not mind ordering another round of that.

We were there for only a while as Jimmy had to be on his way – I think it was around 10.00 a.m. then and he only managed reach home in Serian at around 3.30 p.m. in the afternoon. He gave me a BIG tin of these rempeyek from Bintulu…

…and I was able to pass to him the made-in-Korea patchwork quilt/bed cover that I said I had bought for him.

Well, good luck and all the best, Jimmy, in your new school…and do stay in touch. Cheers!!!
