Let’s celebrate…

It was my niece’s birthday last Saturday – she’s my wife’s niece actually, my brother-in-law’s daughter but it did not matter as that was one good reason to go out and celebrate.  We went for dinner at this place that I had not been to for quite sometime now and of course, there was a birthday cake…

…from BreadSense – their mocha cake which was very nice though I would prefer thinner layers of the cream and more cake…and also the longevity noodles – the fried mee sua with the golden egg…

The kiam sor (salty crusty/crispy) fish fillet…

…was very nice – strong on the garlic taste and I loved it like that a lot!

The lemon chicken was all right…

…but my missus complained that there was a strong essence smell. I did not really notice but I would not say that it was the best lemon chicken that I have had.

I was o.k. with the salad tofu too…

…but my brother-in-law did not like their own-made tofu with egg and what not inside. I remember having their tofu once cooked in a different manner and it really was not great at all – I would never order that again, that’s for sure but this one isn’t half as bad.

The fried midin (wild jungle fern)…

…and also the sea cucumber soup…

…were both all right – more or less the same, as usual but it was their butter prawns…

…that I really enjoyed a lot that night.

It wasn’t exactly like what I used to have there – slightly pinkish which made me wonder whether they had added some salted egg yolk into the batter. It was indeed really yummy but I think I would probably like it a lot more if it had been served coated in a creamy sauce instead.

All in all, it was a good dinner and the bill for 7 persons came up to over RM150.00. I think the portions were a bit too big and it was quite a struggle to finish everything – I would have asked for smaller servings and perhaps, the total in the bill would be reduced as well.
