Early one morning…

My friend, ah^kam_koko’, asked me for a lift to the airport the other morning for his flight to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on an official trip. It wasn’t exactly early – around 7.00 a.m. in the morning and it wasn’t a problem at all for me as I’m usually up and about before the break of dawn every day. He wanted to treat me to breakfast on the way and that too was not a problem, not in the least…and since he wanted to go back to this place that we went to not too long ago for the dim sum, that was where we ended up en route to the airport.

He must have loved the yam puffs the last time around…

…as he wanted those again and the har kau (steamed prawn dumplings) as well.

He also ordered the steamed pork ribs with ginger and black beans…

…and I suggested that he tried this glutinous rice…

…which I had had before sometime ago and quite liked it. Unfortunately, it seemed to have grown smaller…and there wasn’t any salted egg inside. I remember it used to have that at one time but it did not really matter too much anyhow though as even without the salted egg, I thought it was pretty well done and tasted great.

We ordered this…

…but I was quite skeptical initially as the skin looked rather thick and I thought it might be tough or hard. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded and it wasn’t in any way like what I had imagined. The meat filling was all right…

This was new…

So after we had had our breakfast and a great time chatting the time away, we headed to the airport for him to catch his flight to his designated destination.
