I guess everybody knows by now that I flew over to the peninsula on a brief weekend trip and if anyone is wondering, I went on our national carrier…
…because the promotional fares return, inclusive of food, 20 kg baggage but not including airport tax, were very affordable and cheaper than the other airline.
On the flight out of Sibu, lunch was served and I opted for the chili chicken…
…instead of the beef rendang. It turned out to be chicken fried with dried chili and chili sauce , quite a simple dish, I must say – nothing fancy but I did enjoy it.
There was this cute looking kid in the row in front who seemed to be enthralled by the sight of me…
Perhaps he was amazed by my size…or was it because of my good looks? LOL!!!
On the flight back to Sibu, I had the nasi lemak for breakfast…
…as the other option of roti pratha and chicken curry did not seem too appealing to me.
The service was good as usual but I noticed that the air steward was wearing something different from the usual…
I asked him and he told me that this would be their new uniform starting in the month of August. Good grief! At first, I thought he was somebody from a flight attendant school on board to have some practical training.
Personally, I prefer the more brightly-coloured uniform that they had before. This one, I feel, is so Prince Charles – so grey and boring…or Rex Harrison in “My Fair Lady”. With the vest plus the coat, they look like they’re all dressed up for the Ascot races…
All they would need now would be a top hat! And I do wish they would not take off the coat on board as well for I saw the leading steward when he came over from the business class section for a while – he had his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and he actually appeared to me like some bartender at some high-class watering hole in the city.
The flight stewardesses are still using the old kebayas…
…and I do mean old, literally! Hopefully, if they are not getting anything different in the near future, perhaps they should think about giving them some brand new outfits as some of those that I’ve seen look pretty faded and worn-out…so much so that one can easily tell whether the personnel is a senior staff or some new broom just by looking at the colours of their uniforms.
So, there you have it – my flights from Sibu to KLIA and back…
…both smooth-sailing and uneventful and pleasant enough, no complaints whatsoever.
