I have this plant in my garden and somebody says that it is the money tree. I don’t know if it is or not – perhaps, it is the feng shui money tree but whatever it is, a windfall does not seem to be forthcoming, not at all.
It sprouts out of the soil as a bud…
as the folded leaves push their way out…
and gradually unfold…
and grow bigger…
…and bigger…
But as time goes by, they get old and turn yellow…
and then brown and drop off the stalk which will wither and shrink away leaving behind an old wrinkled stump.
In a way, it serves to remind me about life, for by the sweat of your face, you shall eat bread till you return to the ground for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return,Β (Genesis 3:19) and indeed, if it is money that one wants, one would have to work (hard) for it and I must say that I am blessed considering that I am now retired and enjoying a well-earned rest after all my years of working, getting by pretty well on my monthly pension.
I am thankful that I have a comfortable life and it does not really matter one bit that I am not rich and basking in the lap of luxury. After all…
for “…to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me,” (Matthew 25:40) and this, I do believe.
Have a Holy Sunday, everybody…and may God bless us all.
Ahhhh, buy more toto jackpot…..money sure flow in…..
Have a nice God Bless Sunday!
Thanks. Let’s hope your wish will bring me luck tonight… π
My mum has few pots of this money plant. She always ken a 4D or maybe bcos she has good luck. Lol!
Hmmm…looks like I will have to plant lots of pots and place them all over the garden then. Maybe my luck will change… π
love those shots!! how long did the plant used to grow from the bud to full blossom of the leaves?? you must have been taking photos of them everyday?? haha.. it really makes a nice collage, and a story of the growth of the plant.. cool!! and did you buy 4D, hehe?? :p
No lah…I took snapshots of different ones at different stages of growth. Wouldn’t have the patience to wait and it takes quite long as well actually. Yup, bought for tonight…so wish me luck!!! Then can go KL, visit you and the rest…π
You have money, just not an opulent chunk of it.
As long as we have everything we need & the people we love, love us. What more can we ask for?
=)
True, true…and money isn’t everything. One can be filthy rich but unhappy – no point also. I have enough to get by and I am contented with the many blessings I have, that’s all that matters.
Heard that money trees are poisonous. Wonder whether this is the type or not. Is the leaves very very dark green in colour? Anyway, hope luck will be with you.
Thank you, keeping fingers crossed for tonight… Hehehehehehe!!! Nope, the leaves are yellowish green like in the photos. I think it was the Fock Kui Hua – something to do with good fortune and prosperity. Word went round that it was poisonous so everybody threw away theirs – lots of it…but it turned out to be a rumour, not true.
Nope, not Fock Kui Hua. I plant those too but not now. Threw them away cos of the rumours. The money tree I am talking is one with very dark green leaves. The leaves looks the same but not the colour.
I dunno if this one is the money tree even… Just heard somebody say so – I’m not into these things…
Never saw this plant before….
If it’s the money tree, I’m sure there are a lot of people in Sibu planting – they will believe anything and everything…all for the sake of money. π
Money tree :). Yours got so many leaves. Mine only two. Asal cukup makan and none lacking enough.
Yalor…and hati senang, every day happy! π Adoi…why yours so skinny like you and J, only two leaves? LOL!!! π
Wow, National Geographic material! How many weeks it took you to stalk that plant?..lol! Like Kathy says, asal cukup makan and none lacking I sudah happy.Kita tak kacau orang and orang tak kacau kita will definately add to my list of being grateful. Beautiful pictures by the way:)
Just two times…once click, click a few…and then a few days later, some changes already, click, click some more… Where got I have the patience to sit there and wait and take the photographs of every little change… No way! LOL!!! Yes, I should be happy with the way things are in my life…and I am! π

Bought but unfortunately, no luck…not even after this post! Sobsssss!!!! π¦
Love the pictures, very nice!
Too bad…as the blogpost title says – no money! Doesn’t seem to bring me any luck at all… π
I agree…
as for me family, friends and health are very important….
…and food. Have to eat to live mah! Hehehehehehe!!!!
Arthur, you are a RICH man in my book. To be rich is not about having lots of money. You can always lose what is RICH without but you can never lose what is RICH within and that is what you have.
Yes, I am very very rich…and I am so happy and thankful for that. Can’t ask for more… π
