Turn on the heat…

Some of you may recall that I had some renovation works done at my house not too long ago and I had the squat toilet downstairs replaced with a seat one…and the other day, I got somebody to fix a hot water shower in it as well. This cost RM310.00…

Hot water shower

…and for all the plumbing and wiring works (plus I also got the guy to change a bit of the wiring elsewhere), the total came up to RM480.00. Now, one would not need to bathe using the icy cold water in the huge plastic tub and a “kong” (scoop) the old fashioned way – actually we are keeping the water in our downstairs bathroom cum toilet just in case the water supply happens to be interrupted for some reason or other but thankfully, no such thing has ever happened. Touch wood!

I have been very busy myself too – doing some massive spring cleaning works in the house. We have one extra room upstairs unused and all these years, we had been dumping everything inside. In other words, we were using it as some kind of a storeroom. Well, I’ve been clearing up the mess, throwing away all the useless unwanted stuff and cleaning up the dust that had settled everywhere in it over the years. At this point in time, I am still at it but at least, the bed has come into view now…

Extra bed

…and that means that should anybody care to drop by our little ol’ town, I have room for two more guests, 5 altogether as the other room can take in 3.

I will be getting a nicer thicker mattress for the bed, of course…and I have to get rid of those back cushions from my old sofa that I had discarded a long time ago, replacing them with proper pillows – we have a lot of extra pillows in the house so there will not be any need to buy new ones. Β However, this room is extremely hot as it gets the morning sun as well as all the heat in full force in the afternoon, so I will have to get an air conditioner fixed but that will have to wait till I’ve got everything done 100%.Β Progress is very slow – each day, I can do just a little bit before it gets too hot for me to bear but I’ll get everything done…sooner or later.

Anybody coming this way anytime soon?

  1. my friends here also envy me that i have water heater installed. now they have to bear the icy shower during rainy season!

me me me. but not so soon. hehe

Ok, no problem at all! Just let me know when you’re coming. Always welcome… πŸ™‚

  2. Hope that I can go for a visit when my travelling plan resumes, but I guess I have to wait till my boy gets older.

    No worries, I’ll be around…I hope! πŸ˜‰

  3. yeah, no food post today!! does that mean wednesday is a themed day that you will do food less post?? hehehe~~

Not really. No visitors, not eating out so nothing to post…and missus cooking, so no recipes to share as well.

  4. hmmm, it’s never an issue for me if there’s no water heater, because i never take warm shower.. the weather is already so hot, i’ll just settle with cold shower, haha!! and wow, nice room turned storeroom and then restored back to a guest room!! now you realised how many have been visiting and it’s a great idea you invite them to stay with you in your house.. πŸ™‚

You, young and strong…no problem. Old people like me will need hot water baths. LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  5. eh eh…so nice!! I wan i wan! I wanna visit u! ;D nice accomodation.. feel so homey~;P

Come! Come! When are you coming? I can cook pretty nice food too, yunno… πŸ˜‰

  6. nice water heater. These units are getting slimmer and more sleek compared to those older ones.

Yes, my sentiments too. It certainly looks nicer than the old versions. πŸ™‚

  7. Something like a Homestay in Sibu! Yes!! Nice and comfy… worth making a trip there.. good food, good stay! So do I have to make booking first? πŸ™‚

For you, special privilege. Can come anytime, no need to book… LOL!!!

  8. Thanks for the visit. I am also doing spring/summer cleaning right now as one of the rooms in my house, supposedly the library, had turned into a storage room. It’s good to be free of clutter, it’s like finding space for your soul again. And with that empty room, it’s like finding myself visiting you there, lol! Will back read your entries later.

Thanks for your return visit. Oh? So you were doing what we were doing when we were still working? NO time to clear up the mess…but now that I’ve retired, I’ve a lot more time on my hands. Sure feels good to see it nice and clean and habitable again.

P.S. Will link you in my blogroll. Do come again…and often!

  9. Very nice. Can open STP motel cum tour agency. Sure no complains on the service.

Things do one step at a time lor.

The electrician charge cheap la. Over here it would cost an arm and a leg

That’s what I thought. Asked him if he calculated wrongly or not before I issued him a cheque.

  10. My water heater was well over 10 years lor (National brand). I seldom take hot bath unless it is really cold. I prefer cold shower during hot weather like this. The bed looks comfortable. Neat and tidy room.

Yes, I like neat and tidy rooms like this. Last time, I dreaded going in… Like a pig sty!!! Now at least it looks suitable for humans. πŸ˜‰

  11. Found any treasures when you were spring cleaning? And until you have proper pillows on that bed, your guests can’t have pillow fights, heh heh! πŸ˜‰

They can use the cushions – hard and lethal!!!! The owner accepts no responsibility for any resulting injury though…

  12. Spring cleaning comes early! U can start doing a ‘homestay’ thingy =p

No lah… But I would love to have friends come by and stay, all most welcome.

  13. Spring cleaning is good for the soul!

It is. When you sit back and relax to enjoy the end result, it is therapeutic…and all that sweating is good for me – detoxification! πŸ™‚

  14. Homestay in Sibu? Sound very good, you can think about it. πŸ™‚

Water heater? Weather so hot, still need water heater? Usually i shower with cold water instead of hot, ours is solar on the roof top, easier. Unless it rain for few days, then there will be no HOT Water at all! :S

Saves electricity, I guess. I don’t think we need that – just two of us at home…and I mandi kerbau – very fast one. Hehehehehehe!!!!

  15. Time for spring cleaning!! I need that for my own room too!! 😦

Wanna employ me? Pay return air ticket, food and lodging…that’s all. LOL!!! πŸ˜‰

  16. Sorry for not visiting your blog for so long….until your blog change a ‘new home’ and I thought I went to the wrong blog. haha….. Nice colour though.

    I like that old fashioned bed….so nice………

That was the made-to-order bed that I designed for my bridal chamber so long ago…with compartments for my speakers, cassette tapes and all. Ya…welcome back!

  17. So nice of you… providing comfy room, good food and best of all you are an excellent host!

That’s what friends are for…and what goes around comes around. πŸ™‚

  18. wuah!!! got place to stay some more for guests now? so kind of you la…

Love having guests around. Only two in the house, very quiet…and it can get pretty boring. Wouldn’t mind some company once in a while. πŸ˜‰

  19. It’s too hot in Msia to hv a hot shower!!..although we hv no problems doing that while we were still living in Msia..lol! Looking forward for J to sleep in your new guest bedroom..ahem! *wink!wink!*.

Hahahahaha!!!! You wanted to get him out of the way, you should have just said so. I could have dumped him in the computer room downstairs… LOL!!!

  20. Wow.. your place is so nicely prepared for guests to come. I wont want to stay in a hotel if I were to make a trip to Sibu! Arthur’s place is highly recommended πŸ˜€

Ya…no need to waste money on hotel. More convenient also whenever wanna go out for food or tours, no need to make extra trip to hotel to pick.

  21. Take bath using ‘kong’ with icy water on a hot day, really nice lorrr! I still use cool water to take bath although I have heater……nicer lah but on rainy cool days, I have to use heater liao…..getting old lah! LOL!

Not for me… If bathe in cold water, I may fall sick. Old liao…cannot tahan. 😦

  22. Your room look comfy enough for me to stay a week and with your master chef cooking lots of good and delicious food will make enough good justice.

So, I just board a plane ticket and fly there to see you soon! πŸ˜‰

When? When? Do let me know in advance in case I have other plans… Real sad if you come and then I’m in KL or somewhere…

  23. ahhh.. that’s very nice of you.. prepping up Arthur’s Inn for our visit ? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Yes…yes!!! When are you coming? Come, come…!!!! Would love to have you here! πŸ˜‰

  24. nice!! Consider cheap with everything pao!! Here..the device already cost me more than RM400 excluded the wiring…Spring Cleaning!! So fast! It remind me that I need to clear the room downstair too…used as store room wasted!!

Yalor…and most of the things, useless one…no point keeping. Now I have an extra room available for use! You want to employ me… I can do the cleaning for you. Hehehehehehe!!!
