What’s left for me…

My daughter only used half of the huge packet of pasta that I got from Quay Po for her pasta dish that day…and half of the bottle of tomato, onion and garlic pasta sauce that I bought for her to use so I decided to use all of those to cook up something or they would still be sitting there by the time she comes home again.

I sliced a few cloves of garlic and browned them in a bit of margarine that I had heated up in the wok. There wasn’t any more minced beef so I threw in some prawns, shells removed, and also some cherry tomatoes from the plant that has sprouted out all by itself and is growing very well in our garden. Then I added the pasta sauce followed by the pasta that I had boiled earlier and put aside and after mixing everything thoroughly I added a bit of shredded cheese and then transferred it all into a casserole dish and finally, I sprinkled some more of the cheese on top…

STP's prawn cheese pasta

I bought this unfamiliar brand of cheddar cheese slices from the shop round the corner of my house. Each packet is around RM2-3.00 cheaper but I found it to be a lot softer than the regular ones that I would usually buy and use, so much so that it was very difficult to cut into little thin strips. Thus, if you think that the cheese on top looks like it had been hand-torn, you are absolutely right and that was the reason. It tasted good though and that was all that mattered.

I put the whole thing in the oven for some 10-15 minutes till the cheese had melted and this was the end result…

STP's prawn cheese pasta - baked

To go with the pasta, I made some potato tuna and egg salad. For this, I peeled two potatoes and cut them into cubes and then I boiled them till cooked. I put all that in a mixing bowl into whcih I added two shallots, peeled and very thinly sliced, a spoonful or two of canned tuna, two hardboiled eggs, mashed…and a handful of cherry tomatoes. Finally, I added some thousand island salad dressing and tossed and this was what it was like in the end…

STP's potato tuna & egg salad

I had bought a new brand of salad dressing (from the same shop near my house), some RM2.00 cheaper than the usual (that is best noted locally for its mayonnaise). I thought it was quite nice though I would prefer it to be a little bit more sour.

Well, Melissa enjoyed both of what I had dished out so I guess I didn’t do too badly after all in my attempt to cook something non-Asian…*beaming with pride*
