Don’t worry! I would not expect anyone of you to do that as it would be virtually impossible, considering my shape and size. LOL!!! I’m just using that song title for this post as it sounds quite close to what I’m going to blog about – curry mee…
You see, I’ve been wanting to go back to this coffee shop where I had the very nice Penang prawn noodles and the not-so-great pan mien to try their curry mee and I’m glad I did.
I must say that it was very nice…
– very tasty and very spicy and there were a lot of ingredients in it including two pieces of chicken, prawns, some slices of fish cake, taupok, half a hardboiled egg and at least four fried wantons/pian sip, all that for only RM6.00. I was so full after having that for lunch so much so that I decided to skip afternoon tea that day.
The sambal (chili dip) that came with it was very nice as usual and went absolutely well with the noodles…
I only have one bone to pick. I do wish they would not serve the fried wantons IN the curry gravy as that would make them soft and soggy. Instead, they could place them nicely on top of everything else like that solitary one in the photograph as that would be a whole lot nicer for it was still crispy and very much more satisfying than the rest. Other than that, I was thinking that if they had added some curry leaves, the fragrance would bring the taste to a whole new level. Maybe the next time I go for this, I could bring some of my own since I have one whole big tree growing in my garden.
Incidentally, while I was at the coffee shop, I noticed this on one of the stalls there…
Holy Moses!!! You can buy the whole of Kuantan for only RM2.50, just fancy that! Muahahahahahahaha!!!!!
yummeh… there’s one here in OUG, should try tat too…
Pearl International side, Jalan Klang Lama? Used to be my playground. LOL!!! 😀
Pearl International side is United Garden Next to OUG la. Just need to naik bukit a bit
Last time they told me, “Over there, OUG!” pointing at the area further away from Pearl, after that complex where Yaohan was long long ago…later became Lifestyle….now probably closed shop already?
still very much alive… its parkson now… heh heh
Ahhhh!!!! I see. I quite like the area – some nice places with nice food. I used to sneak out of the hotel after a day or two of hotel food for char siew fan or wanton mee at the coffee shop next door…and whenever I had time, I would venture further away in search of anything nice to indulge in. Hotel food – two days or three, at the most (and we used to get 6 meals a day)…and we would get put off even by the mere smell of it.
Not a bad deal… A lot of ingredients…
The curry looks very spicy…
yup curry leaves will definetely bring out the aroma…..
So next time remember to bring some.. and do it secretly….
coz if seen by other customer . they might ask from u.. kakaka
Never mind. I’ve a whole tree! Ya…you got it right – I said a tree…not a shrub, not a bush…but a tree! Anybody who wants curry leaves can come to my house and help themselves. I keep trimming and it keeps growing bigger and bigger… 😦
My MIL is also has a curry leaves plant….
I remember once she put a lot of curry leaves on the fried bihun..
make it has a strong curry leaves and I feel stomach pain after eat too much of the curry leaves…
You must have a lot of toxins in you – it detoxifies, getting rid of all the toxins…so that’s why you got stomach pain, I guess. Moderation! Everything in moderation! Though it may be beneficial to health, should not overdo eat and eat too much at one go….or you ate too much too fast, did not chew properly – indigestion. So tham ciak lah u! LOL!!! 😀
LOL!!! I laughed so loud at your Kuantan comment!!! hahaha!!
I couldn’t help but smile when I saw that… LOL!!! 😀
I love curry. I’m a curry connoisseur & I never trust a Chinese person to talk about curry.
Chinese people only like the salty, santan & mild curry. The best curries are Indian & generous with spice.
I must try this. If I give it a thumbs up, then everybody knows it’s good!
hahahaha~~
You’re 100% Chinese, so why would anyone take your word for it? I’m not and more into peranakan/nyonya cuisine – this curry bends towards that…and curry mee stems from that culture, doesn’t it?…Or is it originally Chinese?
Oh Curry mee, one of my all-time favs! I must have it at least once a week. Koala Bear was correct to mention the eatery in OUG. It’s famous and is located near the OUG wet market and Steven’s Corner. It has the works, including pork skin. Yummeh!
Oh Art, we’ll make good makan partners! 😉
+Ant+
Steven’s Corner? Eyewwwwww….that guy who bashed up a poor old man one. Still in business kah? There was an outlet in Bukit Bintang – I went to that one…and the next trip, it had closed down. They told me it was part of/involved in some kind of scam or something like that. I used to stay at Pearl International for our meetings and what not when I was still working – not going in that direction anymore. So, when are you taking me there? 😉
Yes, it’s that infamous Steven’s corner. After the bashing incident, they moved to a corner lot in the same row since they were constantly harassed by the majlis goons for putting makeshift tables everywhere. Tak bayar duitkopi I presume. Padan muka! Lolz
+Ant+
Didn’t think much of the food. I only went because it was featured in MAS in-flight magazine… Not some place that I would want to go back again – more or less like one of those franchise places, nothing to shout about. 😦

So many places to take you to. Well, you’ve got to choose on what to eat on your next trip here XD.
+Ant+
Oops! Duplicate…but never mind. Ya…I probably would have to stay for a month at least and every day, you take me some place to treat me to something nice and special…and by the time I leave, you pok kai liao! Muahahahahaha!!!! 😀
lol oh noooo, but i can try to carry your leg, XD haha
it’s funny that they should name the dish Kuantan though. 🙂
Have a good day Arthur, been slowing down slightly due to changes in work, and trying to spend a tad more time for the mrs. But hey, I’ll be back soon! haha
You wanna hold my leg? Which leg, Isaac? Have to be more specific boh!!!! Muahahahahahaha!!!! 😀 Ya…no worries! As long as you keep in touch – must spend more time with wife and take good care of her – make sure she eats well, rests well, sleeps well… 😉
oh, indeed looks very nice, i just love curry noodles, haha!! but it is RM6.00, i consider that a little pricey and especially in your town?? anyway, considering you can buy “Kuantan” at only RM2.50, then just give and take lah~~ 😀
Ya…if you want cheap, then you can eat Kuantan or one of the other cheaper selections lor… I would think it’s reasonable as they have so many add-ons inside. Wouldn’t eat it too often anyway, so it’s ok.
Kuantan for rm2.50…..jz wondering how is the taste?
It’s pian sip lah! They want to glamour sikit, calling it wanton…and in the end, fall flat on their faces! A little learning is a dangerous thing…
hahahhahahha…u should go and tell the boss…it should be “wanton” or “wantan” and not KUANTAN!! So funny!!
LOL!!! When you come back, I take you there…and you go and tell the boss! Muahahahahaha!!!! 😀
conquering kuantan for Rm2.50? cool!! i wonder if it’s halal….?
This Kuantan definitely isn’t. Pork inside…it’s pian sip or what you people in Kuching call kiaw.
Hahahaha.. Kuantan is selling very cheap there eh? 🙂 Oh yes, I’d rather have the fried wantons ON the noodles and not soaked until soggy too…
Next time I will tell them to serve separately – I will dip in the curry gravy and eat myself. You wanna buy Kuantan? That one’s Ah Jib Kor’s territory, don’t play-play…or the kawasan2 yang sewaktu dengannya. LOL!!! 😀
Over here, the cheapest wanton noodles I ever tasted is RM2.80… wonder whether there are any selling at thirty sen cheaper…
by the way, what is kuantan noodles? why kuantan? 🙂
See my reply to Mery…
haiz…everytime i come to ur blog i always end up with a growling stomach :ppp kekekeke ^^
Poor thing! Make sure you eat first before you drop by. LOL!!! 😀
I’m okay with curry mee but prefers prawn mee or even asam laksa. However, the kuah in your pic look very nice but I don’t like too much sampah-sarap in it lar.Rather have it simple..senang sikit mo makan:)
It’s nice. Penang, the one I had – the colour did not look like curry…but they gave some sambal…and only when mixed, the gravy had the yellowish curry look. Not bad, no curry leaves either but I think they had bunga kantan…so it had that strong smell. Some people may not like – it was ok by me…but I prefer this one as it is curry…as I know it.
I second Shereen, I like my curry noodles simple, just taufu pok and some chicken..enough..too many things make me “confuse” and hard to eat. And i prefer mee hoon more than yellow noodles.
When i pregnant, i ate a lot curry mee hoon, craving, but not now. Only once in a while will think of curry noodles. 🙂
Oh? Dunno if they have mihun – maybe they have. We can drop by when you’re back here and you can try…see whether you like or not. I like!!!!
Carry you. lol
I love any dish with curry, specially my mom’s seafoods curry.
PS: I’m using mobile phone now thats why I wasn’t able to add your site on my link exchange. I’ll do it first thing in the morning.
Ya…I love seafood curry too. I think I’ve some leftover prawn curry in the fridge – maybe I can cook some curry prawn mee for breakfast tomorrow morning. Yummmm!!!!! LOL!!!
P.S. No worries. Anytime at your convenience. Oh? You can comment using your handphone? Not my old and cheap one – can browse and read – can’t do much else. Can comment on Facebook though…but slow – all the loading and the processing data. Needs a lot of patience. 😉
I meant to bring the balance of Daddy curry mee with me but I forgot!! In the shopping list today – any kind of oriental instant spicy noodle.
Oh? So long already and you have not finished your Mee Daddy? Wahhhh!!!! Watching your figure kah? LOL!!! 😀
Not watching figure, just want to enjoy the mee longer,hehe.. I don’t go to Giant OUG, I am not familiar witht the area, scared get lost. hehe
Hmmmm…how come somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised? Muahahahahahaha!!!!! 😀
Ohhhhhh curry mee lau nua liao. Huh from Wantan to Kuantan with Love?
Aha!!! The curry mee junkie! Still having that every day? LOL!!! 😉
Bananaz, how are you my friend? Hope you are keeping well.
…and still eating his daily dose of curry mee. 😉
Is this the one beside Medan Hotel which I didnt get to try the prawn mee before I left?
Nope, that was yesterday’s curry mee and the Kuantan was from the kampua stall where you had the not-so-nice noodles that night when you arrived. I have not tried the dry pan mien there – did not really like their soup one. This one’s on the other side (that WeCare bakery side of the commercial area)) – across the road from the big supermarket…
