We braved the scorching midday sun that day to come to this place for lunch. Actually, Yee Ling had been there before on her last trip but she did not bring her camera so she was not able to take any photographs of the place nor the food so this time around, she particularly requested that I took her there again.
Of course, I ordered what I would consider to be the best of the best for everybody to enjoy like their belimbing prawns, for instance…
…and their otak-otak…
Mandy is not really a fan of otak-otak and she did not really like the one that we had at this restaurant but she thought this was really very good. I only had a bit so that the others could have more to relish and I found that they had improved on the taste – more fragrant with all kinds of exotic ingredients and more spicy. My bone to pick would be the fact that I noticed it was getting smaller and smaller even though the price had been maintained. Tsk! Tsk!
Another reason why I did not eat much of the otak-otak was that I had ordered this ikan keli (cat fish) cooked in soy sauce with lots of ginger and whatever else…
…only to discover that none of the others would eat this particular variety of fish. Thus, I had to eat all of it by myself in the end.
Yee Ling also ordered their mushroom roll and this plate of spaghetti carbonara for her daughters to share…
I also ordered the Sibu’s own original jelly pisang for Mandy to try…
…and at the same time, I ordered this durian ice cream for myself…
The last time my West Malaysian blogger-friends were here, they had that and they loved it a lot…so ever since then, I had been dying to drop by to try it myself.
Was it good? Well, Yee Ling’s daughter wanted to try too…
…so she helped herself to a bit of it…
…and she went, “Yummmmmm!!!!”
LOL!!! As we all know, kids are candid and frank, always unpretentious…so that photo says it all! I must say that on my part, I certainly liked it a lot!
After that delightful lunch, we got back into my old car and the little girls were grumbling about the heat. Yes, it was very very hot and after having been parked in the open for just a little while, it was like an oven when we got inside despite the air-conditioning. They wanted to have their afternoon nap, so I took them all back to their hotel. That’s the thing when you’re travelling with children – your time is never your own…and in the meantime, I went back home myself and had a snooze too until it was time to pick them up again and take them out for dinner…
