I’ve been here in Sungai Merah before – I remember I had the beef noodles that weren’t too bad and were very cheap but long before that, I had the kampua special that I thought I could do without…but the other day, I was in the vicinity and I decided to have some kampua noodles for my breakfast so I ordered a plate from the stall there. The lady asked me if I wanted the special (again) and somehow, I said yes and this was what I got…
After all this time, it had not improved – the noodles still tasted o.k. but if I could help it, I would much rather have something else or go elsewhere.
I wished they had not given the tauhu pok and the sliced fish ball and meat ball…
…and replaced those with maybe two or three pian sip (meat dumplings/wantans) instead.
On another morning, I decided to try the kampua noodles here…
Located right across the road from Sacred Heart School here, it has been around for quite sometime but I had never had the chance to check it out.
It looked really good…
…but I did not think it tasted all that great. Again, if I had the choice, I would much rather go elsewhere. In fact, the ones at Thomson Corner, just a few doors away would be a whole lot nicer…except that it does not open that early for business every day.
For one thing, I noticed that both these places had their following – there were quite a lot of people there eating the noodles which makes me wonder whether I’m a bit too fussy and picky about what I eat…
