Yes, it’s me back at this same ol’ place again!
Well, last week, when my mum was at the medical centre, my friend, Jimmy, from Bintulu was in Sibu for two nights and he brought me one tub of cincaluk (fermented shrimps) but as I was ill-disposed at the time, I was not able to really take him out for anything good around town. We did manage, however, to squeeze in some time and drop by here, one place that he had never been before, for tea and we decided to try something new that they had on their menu – the caramel honey toast (RM10.80)…
There are a few choices including one with curry and another with bananas. We did not know how to go about eating it so we asked the young and handsome waiter to dissect it for us…
He went about it slowly, carefully taking it apart bit by bit, and the devil got the better of me and I remarked out loud, “Gosh! That reminds me of someone undressing a girl.” Muahahahahaha!!!! The poor innocent boy smiled uncomfortably and looked quite embarrassed, poor thing! Gee! I’m so bad really, I know I am! LOL!!!
Unfortunately, it was too sweet for our liking and we did not think it was anything we would want to have again…and it was definitely nothing like the vanilla mille crepe (RM6.50) that I ordered for Jimmy to try…
He had a bite of that and it left him utterly speechless – it was that good! He found it so heavenly and really loved it so much – anytime better than any cheesecake, he said.
He loved the coconut milk smoothie (RM5.50) that he had as well…
…while I had the mulberry aloe vera (RM5.50)…
…which had longans inside and was o.k. to me – something refreshing like Ribena 7Up minus the gas.
“When in Rome, do as the Romans do,” the proverb goes…so when in Sibu, do what the Sibuians do – eat kompia (bagel-like charcoal-baked unleavened bread) and I ordered for him the ones with pork belly (RM4.20)…
Wait a minute! I thought it used to cost something like RM3.90…or was it RM3.60? Sigh!!! What to do? The prices of everything else are rising so I guess they do not have much choice but to do the same, instead of scrimping on quantity or quality just to keep the price down.
Jimmy’s just like me! He loved the fatty pork more than the other version with minced meat (RM3.20)…
…and I guess that explains our shape and size. Muahahahahaha!!!!
Whatever it was, we certainly enjoyed our tea and the little time I had to spare…but of course, Jimmy will be back again, sooner or later…and rest assured that he’s looking forward to coming back here to try the other goodies that they have to offer. Yum! Yum!
