My Facebook friends would have seen most of the photographs in this post as I’ve shared them in that social network before. Actually, they show some of the things that I’ve had for breakfast these past weeks and I’ve even featured a couple of them in my earlier posts here and here…and the truth is that I was slowly but surely clearing the leftovers in the fridge, for example the bacon…
…that my daughter used to cook pasta or something when she was home and I had it with the Foochow bagel or kompia…
…and I also used a bit of it to cook some very nice fried rice…
You can see the oven-grilled chicken drummets on the plate – left over from Chinese New Year, believe it or not, and stuffed somewhere in the fridge, conveniently forgotten.
These weren’t that old – the leftover seaweed noodles from our Chap Goh Meh steamboat dinner…
…that I had tossed in Bovril, oil, fried shallots, chopped spring onions and chilli and at the same time, I had a few pieces of the ngor hiang/lor bak (meat roll) that we had a day or two earlier.
No point letting all that go to waste, is there? Besides, it certainly was a welcome change from the same ol’ usual stuff that I would be having for breakfast at the coffee shops around town.
