Who do you think of when you fly somewhere, be it on official duty or on holiday? Do you shop for stuff to give to somebody in mind…or do you just buy a lot and then when you get home, you will distribute them to whoever you would like to give them to?
Well, I am pretty sure that Mandy thought of me when she was in Bali as she got me a key holder with my name on it…
…unless she may know more than one person by this same name.
Clare went to Vietnam with a group of her girl friends from school and got me this key holder…
…and my friend/ex-student, Alex, went to Taiwan and came back with so much food to share. He gave me these mochi (glutinous rice balls)…
Two balls, Alex? Muahahahahaha!!!! They had some butter icing-like filling, one coffee-flavoured and the other strawberry. I’m not a fan of mochi…and although both are nice, I think I prefer the pek tau sar (white bean paste) filling that the Sibu ones have.
I love the phong peah a great deal though…
…with its fragrant buttery filling and the pineapple cakes weren’t too bad either. Nice!
I have not tried these khong therng (peanut cakes)…
…nor these Sakura prawns…
…and if you think that was all, I’m afraid you’re mistaken. He also gave me these so-called “naughty quail eggs”…
I wonder in what way those eggs are naughty – any idea, Alex? Hehehehehe!!!!!
And we had a good laugh over the key holder he got me…
Roast pork! They even make key holders of roast pork! LOL!!!
Gosh!!! I am so fortunate to have such wonderful friends who would get me something wherever they go but please, don’t get me anything anymore. I feel really bad that I cannot reciprocate in any way. As the Malay saying goes, “Hutang emas boleh di bayar, hutang budi dibawa mati.”
