Everyday I love you…

Well, you can guess that I really love the place if you see me going there EVERYDAY, right?Β LOL!!!

Well, actually it was not intentional, not at all. I went there with my old friends who came to town and the very next day, my sister-in-law invited us out to dinner and my missus suggested going to this restaurant. That was why I was there two days in a row.

This time around, we had the butter prawns…

MingMeiShi butter prawns

…which were superb.

The lemon chicken…

…was o.k. but I think I know one place that does it with roast chicken, probably leftovers for the day but never mind! It is very nice and I think I like that one better.

We also had the Sabah vegetables – I think it is called Sabah yeu chai or something like that…

…and yes, they were very nicely-done, fried with garlic.

Now, going out for dinner with my in-laws, we simply must have this…

MingMeiShi sweet and sour fish fillet

They’re die-hard lovers of sweet and sour fish fillet…and the ones here are very good – certainly worth having.

Along with all those, we had the sea cucumber soup…

…which was good. At least, we could actually see bits of sea cucumber inside – unlike at some places that I’ve been to…and the day before, I had the Foochow-style fried noodles so this time around, I ordered the KL-style Hokkien mee…

MingMeiShi Hokkien mee

…as I wanted to give it a try. Ooooo…it was nice – just as nice or even nicer than what I had here. The only minus point was the fact that they did not use those big noodles that we usually get when having Hokkien mee in KL.

All in all, 6 dishes for 6 people and the bill came up to RM80.60 which is so very cheap – so much cheaper than what we had here! Hmmmm….if they keep on charging such prices and considering the fact that the food is really good and there are so many options to choose from, rest assured that I will be going back there again and again…though not everyday! LOL!!!

  1. Everyday, I “salivate” when I read ur blog… how r u so far, cikgu?

LOL!!! And you keep coming back for more! I’m fine, thanks…and I hope you are too. Haven’t seen you around for a long time and I was wondering where you’ve gone… Welcome back. πŸ™‚

  2. Well, looks like you may see me a lot earlier than next July. Plan to spend the yuletide season in Sibu this year. And then we can go and sample these delicacies.

Hey! That would be great! You’ll be here the same time as your son? Ya…looking forward to seeing you all and going on more eating sprees together… LOL!!! πŸ˜€

      1. Ahhh…jealous! jealous!…SOBS!!!

Hahahahaha!!!! Come, pack your bags and join us here! Would be fun! πŸ˜‰

  3. Are the butter prawns nicer than Sarawak club?

Different recipe – like the butter scotch prawns at Ruby, also different. Hard to compare – all nice…but hey! You had that when you were in town except that probably the chef spilled the salt that night (and I complained to the lady boss the next time I went there)…

…or it was a busy night and one of the subordinates did the cooking. That’s one drawback here, I hear… Sometimes, things may not be as nice because they have so many chefs in the kitchen – should get them to specialise.

  4. This time around, no butter scotch prawns, cikgu? sometimes i really how often you eat out in a month? It seems that you do like 365 ………..or sometimes even 3 times a day, kan?

Hey, have a great Sunday,is tomorrow a holiday in Sarawak?, if so,enjoy ya

Nope…only on special occasions and when there are visitors dropping by in town. Most of the time, eat at home…missus cooking. πŸ˜‰ Butter scotch prawns at a different restaurant, not this one lah! Ya, enjoy your extra day off tomorrow…

  5. isaac is a die hard lover of fish and sour fish fillet, and sweet and sour pork. And seeing this here this morning, isaac is hungry and plans to look for these when he’s up in genting later.

    Have a very good sunday!

Genting again? For the long weekend? Honeymoon or cuba nasib? Up there, if you can get this, it would be so very expensive – all the people going up there, kaya…want to be more kaya one…. πŸ˜‰

  6. Your new favourite restaurant? Hehehe.. I love this restaurant.. So many to choose from, yummy food and reasonable prices. Ooo.. Butter prawn, sweet and sour fish and sea cucumber.. Salivating!!

Not really! It has been around for almost two years now…and I’ve been there a few times…but not so often as I did not have an influx of visitors. Normally, my missus and I would just eat at home… You’ve been to this place? So far, everyone who has been there seems to like it a lot…

  7. The boys will go crazy with the prawns and the best thing is that you can just pop them in the mouth without having to wrestle with the shell. As for the lemon chicken, don’t care what you say as the picture look so sedap…and you know with us, the pinggan will be licin with not a drop of the sauce..lol.Oh…and I miss the sea cucumber soup.I saw the recipe in a book I bought with Lucy on Sibu food. Will give it a try when I balik from the holidays.

Next time you come, I’ll take you to this other shop to try. I think that night, they has some roast chicken left over, so they lightly refried it and poured lemon sauce over it. I liked it a lot! So much nicer than their regular lemon chicken…so I would want that whenever I go to that shop. Good luck with your sea cucumber soup! πŸ˜‰

  8. Sobs!!..sobs!!…another great torture today.

Ho Chiak!!!…Ho chiak!!!….all the dishes looks so delicious just like what I love to have. Every dish looks nice to me and no doubt you are going back there again…and again..and again.

    Best part…6 dishes for 6 persons for RM80.60…that was a good price….so cheap!!…so cheap!!… Have a nice weekend, Arthur.

Gee! You’re SOOOOO clever! I did not go on Friday but I went again on Saturday. Muahahahahaha!!!! Watch out for the post – coming soon! Ya…it’s cheaper than elsewhere…and the best thing is it is very nice and there are so many options to choose from. I wouldn’t mind going again…and again…and again.

  9. prawns – my all-time favorite..

Yummmm….. Btw, how’s your blog now? Earlier when I dropped by, I got a malware detected warning…. Had to reverse quickly – back to safety. 😦

  10. Nice!! I love the cucumber soup and butter prawns. Eat a bit can la…

Sea cucumber. they say good for health what… Prawns, of course lah… Want to eat too often also cannot, so expensive.

  11. Aiyoh, you are such a c-r-u-e-l man lah, STP. Why you like to kacau kacau so many times with sweet and sour dishes? Why?? I will now tell myself that I don’t like sweet and sour dishes so that I can be indifferent to your photos of my fav s & s.

Ok…ok…no more in my next post on this restaurant! LOL!!! πŸ˜€

  12. seems like a deja vu, did you just goto the same restaurant not long ago and ordered almost the same dishes?? haha, cos i just remember that sea cucumber soup.. errr, what is sabah vegetables actually?? only available in sabah?? it just looks like some ordinary vege like choy sum, haha~~

I went the day before…but we did not order the same dishes…and I went again, after a one-day break! LOL!!! Some nice dishes that I would like people to try, I would order again… πŸ˜‰

  13. I’m sure this restaurant is really good. If not, you won’t be frequenting this place so often. Food does look good!

It is…and the best part is that it is comparatively cheaper than many other places with not-so-nice food.

  14. hey… I missed this post yesterday.. wondering why I didnt come… hmmmmm…oh yeah, went to Sitiawan for seafood which caused a bomb! no wonder… whole night resting my tender stomach… today i do not have appetite…. but never fear, I will be back to normal in a day or two… good that these dishes didn’t make me salivate today…otherwise I need a bib here!

Aiyor…kesian. Went all the way to Sitiawan and ended up with food poisoning! There! If you had come to Sibu instead for the long weekend, such a thing would not have happened. Muahahahahaha!!!! Must take plain porridge till your system has resettled… Never mind, good for slimming down. πŸ˜€

  15. Arthur, you like lemon chicken then I recommend you one place when you come to KL. The name of the place if Quay Po Cooks! wahahha… Jokes aside, my Quay Lo LOVE my lemon chicken. Every Chinese restaurant we go, when he sees lemon chicken, he will order and after eating he will tell me, mine is till better. All the food looks “ho ho sek” especially the butter prawn.

Ya…I usually would not order anything my missus can cook when dining outside – hers is always better…. Wink! Wink! LOL!!!! πŸ˜€

  16. The butter prawns look so heavenly..yumm!! The fish fillet looks nice too.. m just reading ur many food blogs and droolin over.. lol.. πŸ˜€ do u know any (simple) recipe for the butter prawns?! I so liked them.. πŸ™‚

I’ve fried garlic in butter, added sliced Bombay onions and added prawns…plus salt according to taste – different from these but they turned out nice as well. I think I added cheddar cheese as well… Never tried cooking it this way – usually, when we can get to eat it outside,I do not bother to try and cook it myself.
