I should have known better (2)…

Well, I should have known better than to order kolo mee

…in Sibu. As you can see, it does not even look anything like the nice kolo mee that I had at the Oriental Park in Kuching

But it so happened that the other morning,I dropped by this coffee shop here…

…that I used to frequent many years ago. At the time, many claimed that they had the best mee sua (longevity noodles served in chicken soup cooked with traditional Foochow red wine) in town but after some time, the stall was no longer there – either closed down or they had moved somewhere else. I had the beef noodles there before which was quite all right – not the best in town but it wasn’t bad at all.

There is a mee sua stall now but I don’t know if it is the same one and anyway, that morning, I did not feel like having that nor did I feel like having any beef noodles. In the end, I decided to give the prawn kolo mee a try…

It did not taste like kolo mee as I know it to be…and one saving grace was that it did not taste like kampua noodles either. At some places that I’ve been to, it was actually kampua noodles made to look like kolo mee. This one had a taste of its own which was quite nice especially when eaten with the special chili sauce provided…but for RM4.50, I think I would much sooner go and look for something else elsewhere…
