Over in West Malaysia, there is the Chicken Rice Shop (and there is an outlet or two in Kuching, I think)…and over here, we have our very own Singapore Chicken Rice. There is an outlet near my house but I have been there once only as, like all franchise shops, I do not think it is all that great even though Melissa likes it quite a lot and feels that it is nicer than its counterpart in the peninsula…
So the other day, we dropped by there for lunch – whatever that makes her happy will make me happy too. Hehehehehe!!! She had the roasted drumstick (RM3.40)…
…and though normally, I would prefer my chicken roasted as well, I had the steamed drumstick (RM3.40)…
…so that I would have something else for this post. LOL!!! It was quite good though – I liked it.
The rice cost RM1.50 a plate…
…and thus, that worked out to RM4.90 each which I would think was a bit too pricey but of course, the place is more comfortable, air-conditioned and all, compared to this other chicken rice joint in town that I would very much prefer – a bit cheaper and nicer.
One thing that I noted, however, was that iced black coffee was only RM1.40 for a long tall glass…and it was pretty good. That, I must say, is VERY cheap…compared to RM1.30 (for a smaller glass) in the coffee shops! There has been talk lately about increasing the price of drinks in the coffee shops in town by no less than 50 sen!!! @#$%&*%$#!!!!! If that should happen, I would definitely not order a drink at any coffee shop around – those daylight robbers can drink them all by themselves till they all pee in their pants! Who do they think they are? No-class-at-all, miserable, hot and noisy kopi tiam! Secret Recipe, they are not…but the way things are going, they may be charging those same unreasonably astronomical prices very soon. Tsk! Tsk!
